I downloaded the version from archive.org and it randomly started freezing when finding new areas with cards (not sure what those are called). Did anyone else experience this? Is there a better version to get (I'm running on windows 7)? Is there a fix? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I believe what you are referring is called 'Lairs' according to the Instruction Manual. You are talking about the encounters used to try and buy Shivan Dragon with amulets or gold right?

Yeah I guess...since I moved to windows 10 this game won't run for shit. It ran ok on windows 7.

Yeah I run it on Windows 10 64 bit, it runs ok. It locks up rarely. It's annoying when it happens. I also run the archive.org version. Windows for me is running it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2, you might try that see if it helps.

Windows 10 Pro 64 bit here and also 'Magic The Gathering 2010 Edition PC ISO' from archive.org. I mounted the ISO, installed it and it has worked well enough.

If you go into the MagicTG folder and find the icon for Shandalar you can right click on it and you'll see what @raineyjayy is talking about under the 'Compatibility' tab. I don't have it checked atm, but it does show Windows XP (Service Pack 2) for me too.

As far as the freezes go, I was getting them myself the first day or so, but it has been happening less since I don't sell as many cards at the first city/tower. I found that if you dip below 17-18 starting cards and get into a random encounter afterwards it would nearly always freeze. Now I keep 20/36 (a couple extra for the Ante burglars) and can go almost entire streams without freezing it up. It's a working theory, but easy enough to test. Ya'll should try rolling the dice without a creature or artifact in your deck. Big OOF.

yeah I tried the compatibility mode with no difference...will try with less cards sold. Thanks for the tips
