I just read these threads, and I downloaded the game cos it looks like a nice speedgame 😃
I think I've found a couple of (small-ish) timesaves;
1. You can go OOB in the water section right after entering the room and go more or less directly to the key. I know you guys know about this glitch, but I don't think you used it in a run.
2. If you talk to the final boss from the back, it just restarts the game without the fight happening. This was after collecting (afaik) all the shrines and stuff, so this might just
be for 100%, or intended...?
I'm gonna try and do a couple of runs (on Ubuntu rn so gonna have to find a suitable timer :P) and see what sort of time I get.

OK, so, for the second one, it seems that you have to hold the direction to move into the rocks just before the cutscene, and slowly move up in order to move to the side as quickly as possible. I'll try and record a video after I've found a timer.

i say we time using oob and normal routes to the key to make sure the oob one is faster. also death warp timings on the any% might balence it out too.

and yeah i cant talk to the boss from behind canceling the fight, am i missing something? (edit: saw your response to problematicar. im real intersted in seeing it. i think nw split (while not great imo) is a common timer used in linux games like super tux cart, try that? or maybe http://jenmaarai.com/llanfair/en/ ? i saw that mentioned a few times on the sda forums)

either way im loving that this game has had more activity recently, its a great speed game.

YES! I was able to recreate the bug, it works in Any% too, massive time save, I'm talking under 3 minutes wr timesave.

_reallyTired I'll try to time both routes to check just in case, but I think the wallclip is better for 100% and worse for any% since it skips a ton of enemy damage.

Llanfair just doesn't load for me, I'm trying NWSplit. I think it's definitely faster, although yeah, it should be tested.
Maybe it only happens because I'm running the game through Wine? Go to the back of the pool thingy, and iirc you need to be slightly to the left and facing down, in the same position as when talking normally to the... whoever they are.

The cutscene triggers the bossfight, so if you skip it with precise movement it's just like you already killed the boss.

Looks like the goal for now is a sub 3 for any% and sub 4 for 100%, this game is so cool for speedruns.

yeah man its great! im glad it gathered a little traction after my first couple runs, there was someone commenting on my videos too who might run it.

I've just got a basic stopwatch thingy, gonna have to retime everything ofc, just trying to install OBS now. Sub 3 any% should be suuuuuper easy, and I'd like to research the optimal deathwarp route and suchlike.

yeah i agree, next wr any% will likely be sub 3

OK, I just did a 100% run, I think I did the optimal route, just not very well, so I got 4:26 😛
Always get life, not death, at the shrines, it's faster and the stamina or whatever is literally useless.
