Thread: Correctly removing load times in co-op runs.

Started by: NazzarenoNazzareno

Hey there!
For Coop we remove loads a bit differently from Solo, which may be the cause of your confusion from watching the Guide video, you can refer to the rules section for more info but I will try to explain as best as I can here in this thread.
Let's take a full episode run as an example:

Exiting a level:
- After the Blue Victory Logo fades away, the "loading" logo will appear bottom right, you start to remove.
- When the first frame of the scoreboard/lobby (kills, performance, etc) appears, stop removing.
Entering a level:
- After the countdown from all players being ready reaches 0, first frame of "Starting Game", you start to remove.
- When the first frame of the cutscene appears, you stop removing.

So for a 3 levels episode you would have to do these twice. Should look something like this:
9 seconds, 32 seconds, 8 seconds, 43 seconds (as an example)
Now also keep in mind that not every player in the match will have the same lenght of loads, which means player 1 might load faster or slower than player 2 or vice-versa. We recommend having all perspectives recorded in case loads are inconsistent with your partners in order to have the most accurate load removal time possible.

We know the situation isn't the best for load removal right now but we have good news! A few people have offered to start looking into making an autosplitter with livesplit, which would resolve all these issues. Hopefully we get it working soon, we'll keep you updated!

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask 🙂

Thread: Load Remover

Started by: AuddyAuddy

Hi Auddy!

I believe some people have tried in the past to make a load remover for this game but for one reason or another couldn't figure it out. No one is working on making one at the moment as far as I know, it would be amazing to have one if you're willing to try it!

Also feel free to join our WWZ Speedrunning Discord if you have any more questions about the load remover or the run in general, I'm sure other runners will be glad to help!

The rules specify "The timer does not have to be shown on the video, but the time must be verifiable."

So yeah, you should be good, have fun! 🙂

Thread: Request leaderboard moderation (Read the first post before posting!)

Started by: DaravaeDaravae

@DangerlessDangerless I don't think it would be appropriate to share publicly on the forums screenshots or "logs" of the private conversation RunningSky and I had. Like I said previously, we could discuss further on Discord for clarification in private.

Here is an explaination of the situation from my own words:
RunningSky was the first Super Mod on the leaderboards having only added 2 Individual Levels, so when I wanted to submit a Level that wasn't on the leaderboards I contacted them and asked them to add the rest of the levels. They added me as a mod so I could do it myself, wich I did. I took feedback from the community on the WWZ forums while creating the boards and created a Discord server when interest was growing for the game. I sent an invite to RunningSky for the server and they never joined, I asked them back then if they still wanted to moderate and they answered yes. Couple months go by, RunningSky hasn't verified a single run and is completely inactive with the community. @ReportWroteByLeonReportWroteByLeon and @Absurd_Absurd_ joined the moderation team during those months contacting me and then RunningSky to be added as moderators. We have since taken every decision together regarding leaderboard or community changes. Recently, RunningSky added a new Moderator without contacting any of the other moderators or having a discussion about it. We had no idea if the new Moderator was even posting legit runs to the leaderboards and auto-verify himself. In disagreement with RunningSky's decision, I decided to contact them once again asking them if they would accept to give the Super Mod role to someone else in the community. Moderators @ReportWroteByLeonReportWroteByLeon and @Absurd_Absurd_ had a discussion and we all agreed that I would take the role going forward, so I suggested it to RunningSky. A week later, no replies from RunningSky and I was removed from the leaderboards moderation team without notice.

Sorry for the long text, but I figured I would go as much into details as possible. If you have any questions or require any screenshots of the discussion between RunningSky and I, please contact me on Discord. I will be glad to share this information with you privately.

Thank you for your time.

@DangerlessDangerless ultimately, our request was to remove RunningSky wich is why @Absurd_Absurd_ posted first. He mentionned me because we would need someone to take the Super Mod role. Sorry if this wasn't the right place to ask.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by logs? If you mean Audit Logs from the leaderboards, I can't access those anymore. Maybe Absurd can show them to you. Otherwise, we can always discuss on Discord if you need further explaination about the situation, i'd be glad to go into details.

As a moderator who had to deal with load removal, here are some suggestions:

Have any of you tried to contact someone who knows how to make an auto splitter on PC? That would fix the issue and make everyone happy, have the most accurate timing method and be competitive with anyone regardless of their hardware limitations.

Another solution we could look at is manually removing loads, agreeing upon a starting and finishing frame for each loading and that would work for consoles as well. Might not be the perfect solution but it does fix the problem and make everyone competitive, even console vs PC. (If you're curious the WWZ leaderboard is a good example of that method being used effectively)

Thread: Missing Levels and Categories

Started by: lollipopomglollipopomg

Hey there!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, upon closer inspection PC and Consoles have huge loading screens differences.
Now it would be complicated and would create a lot of empty space on the boards to have different categories for each different type of software like for example: PS4 and PS4Pro have different loadings etc. I have chosen instead to add a Load Removal for submitted runs, allowing everyone from every platform to be competitive against each other. This does mean that runners who submit have to manually remove loads but moderators can also help when inspecting submissions for those who might not be familiar with removing loads. Keep in mind, the Load Removal is optional and is only used for Full Game runs as Individual Levels don't have loading screens during the run. I'd like to have feedback about this solution, as I believe it is the best of both worlds for PC and Consoles without making the leaderboard look like a mess.

Thank you!

Hello!
Yes you can submit a run without a timer on screen, as long as it is timed correctly on the leaderboards. All we need is the gameplay footage as proof 🙂

Hello there! I would like to ask the moderators to add the remaining missions and categories as the current state of the leaderboard is far from complete. I have done some runs yet have no where to submit them. I'm willing to do it myself if you'd allow me, I have experience in creating leaderboards on this website and could make it look good. Thanks!

Thread: why does any% for the run of the ten challenges require 3 objectives complete on each map?

Started by: poiagoboypoiagoboy

To add to that, what you seem to be describing sounds more like a NG+ category rather than Any%, considering everything is already unlocked. I'd be okay with adding the category if you're actually going to be running it but it wouldn't be considered Any%.

I do agree that the boards would look better, but since we used to have a leaderboard that was categorized with different maps it was only fair to keep those runs shown for the old board runners.

I do think however that we could make the different maps hidden by default, and if someone wants to see what the times are for specific maps they can then do it manually. This way, it'll look cleaner by default.

Thoughts?

Of course I did, that's why I asked in the first place.

From what Dustiel said, GCN emulation could be allowed "at some point" and well, that post is 2 years old so I'm bringing it back up to see if things changed since then.
