If you're new to speedrunning Little Nightmares and/or speedrunning in general and want your time to appear on the leaderboard, please be sure to read this guide thoroughly to ensure LiveSplit is setup and recording your time correctly.

1. Download and extract LiveSplit. (Link) 2. Download and extract example empty Splits file (Link) 3. Open LiveSplit. You should see a timer with '0.00'. Right click on it and select Open Splits->From File. Choose the Splits file. 4. Right click on the LiveSplit again and select Edit Splits. 5. Make sure Game Name and Run Category are filled in, the autosplitter should be automatically detected. Activate it if needed and press Ok to close Edit Splits window. 6. Right click on the LiveSplit again and select Edit Layout. 7. Now we will add second timer so we can track both loadless and time with loads. In the Layout Editor, press the (+) Button and select Timer->Timer. Double Click on each timer and make sure one is set to Real Time as the Timing Method and the other one to Game Time. Press Okay. 8. Right click on LiveSplit and under Compare Against, select Game Time. 9. Right click on LiveSplit and create save files for both your Splits and Layout. 10. Right click on Livesplit and select Settings. Change your hotkeys if you want but make sure that the Global Hotkeys option is checked, it will allow you to use the hotkeys while your game window is in focus. Although with the autosplitter you shouldn't really need them.

After doing all this, let's test if it works. With your LiveSplit open, start the game from a new save file. If your timer begins automatically after you restart the checkpoint at the starting cutscene and the game timer shows different time, you're good! It will not work if you watch the cutscene or start it manually. Always start your run by restarting checkpoint on the starting cutscene.
