Make Solo/Co-op Subcategories

Also, I recommend makin the individual campaigns it's own category with each campaign as a subcategory. This board needs to look better and it currently looks very cluttered.

I'd submit some solos if it happened if that helps any decision. I already have the L4D2 records so I could slide right in here without any real trouble besides finding alternate ways to do things for a few maps. Not to mention we'll be running L4D1 in the coming AGDQ so the practice would be useful for me.

United States

Are they ever gonna put an Expert any% category?

North Carolina, USA

An Expert Realism subcategory already exists on the L4D2 board here, https://www.speedrun.com/l4d2

A move hasn't been made on the L4D1 boards yet since it doesn't have Realism and it is far less run than L4D2 at the moment. Your best bet for the time being would be to check out the L4D2 subcategory for it until more activity potentially comes into L4D1 in the future and we figure out if Expert is worth it here as well without Realism being a thing.

United States

I did an expert run, so if you want to make a category for it I will submit to it.

Forgot to reply to this earlier, sorry.

We should have more than one person willing to submit to it and have a community discussion about if it's worth it first, but your bid is noted for now.

I don't really see why, it's not like this is a popular game to begin with and it would take a while for anyone else to chime in more than likely.

Personally I would have done Expert runs on left 4 dead 1, and there isn't much reason for there not to be that category

L4D2 is a lot more popular than L4D1 and yet the Expert Realism categories don't get that much attention. It's pretty much just Failzz running longer categories and Master filling the categories that people didn't run. L4D1 doesn't even get runs for any category at all. Expert would get even less attention

United States

Who cares, there's a run by me already so it doesn't matter. Just add it.

I play on expert so if there were expert categories I would submit to them. I haven't tried to do all campaigns in one go yet but I would definitely give it a go.

I'd say just submit your expert runs as they are, and if there's enough volume, they can easily be moved into a new category. The last poll only had a difference of two votes, and there have barely been any submissions besides the top three players, none of whom want a new category with the level of activity this game has been receiving.

Alright, I think deagle's idea is pretty fair since the people posting the requests so far (Pickle, Cyberdemon, CTRH1) don't currently have any runs up at all.

Feel free to do Expert runs and submit them to the current boards. If a bunch of runs pop up across the various categories that are on Expert exclusively, I can make a new subcategory for it and shift them over to there. Otherwise it will stay as-is, so do understand it's possible your Expert run might remain on the boards as it currently looks if there isn't sufficient activity.

Of course it should go without saying, the runs need to begin on Expert and never leave that difficulty through the entire duration to be valid for the potentially new category. See the Expert Realism rules on the L4D2 boards for guidance, the rules here will probably be the same (sans Realism).

I don't see why there needs to be a huge debate and deal over it, just make it a subcategory and be done with it lmao

Its not a huge debate. It's simply deciding not to make a category because of lack of real interest in the game.

I've already done a run though lol

If you've already done a run, then submit it? If you're all so into this category then I don't see the problem with submitting them normally so I know there's real, tangible interest and not just hollow promises of runs that will never come. It's very easy to shift them to a new category after they are already up, I can handle that myself no problem with no extra work from you. No offense intended, but I'm also not going to just add a category because somebody is demanding I do so, I think the idea proposed is a very fair compromise to make sure considering everybody asking for it doesn't even have an existing run on the leaderboards besides Cyberdemon's Original Campaigns Solo.

Just submit to the regular boards for now to show your real interest. It'll make you look really good at the game competing with Easy difficulty runs on Expert, anyway.

I submitted a run, but it will just be obsolete so it won't appear anywhere.

I agree, deagle's idea is very fair. I'll submit my runs then.

Hey, been very busy lately with the Christmas season looming but I'm getting to some submissions now.

Cyberdemon... are you sure that Original Campaigns Solo on Expert in over 4 hours is what you want to put forward? I mean... it's actually a casual playthrough with bots, it isn't at all a speedrun of the game. I'm just saying, this doesn't seem like a good place for it (again, it's actually a casual play) and I want to make sure before taking the time to verify it.

Minor rule changes/clarifications

Hey everyone, some minor changes to the rules - solely to clarify things/change wording, no rules actually "changed" (at least not in any way that will be relevant to 99.9% of people):
