alright, I'll add this as a category. Sorry for just noticing this.

I recently did a challenge for "completing" career mode in the fewest number of launches. The definition of "complete" was the same as your 100% category but additionally to finish every progression milestone so that you no longer had any "world's first" contracts being offered. This includes things like docking ships on the surface and crew transfers in orbit around every body. The 100% category right now really isn't much different than the All Planets RTA category - what do you think about changing the rules to include the progression milestones?

While you're at it, that could be a possible Any% category, or All Contracts, WFRKS%, World-Firsts. I imagine it would take similar time to All Planets, so I don't know if runners would be inclined to try it. I think any new categories should have at least one run already.

"All World-Firsts" sounds like it could be an interesting category, although I'm not personally familiar with all of the "world-firsts" so verification might take a bit longer than with some of the other categories. If someone does a run of it and posts the video of it here, I can add the category to the leaderboards.

And since nobody has done any 100% runs, I could certainly add "all world firsts" to the list of requirements if people seem agreeable to it.

I've been trying out the World First contracts in segments. I'm about 15 hours into it, playing somewhat quickly but without much strategy, and I'm only on the Eve missions. Supposedly past a particular version (could be a rule), they added WF contracts for all planetary systems, not just Kerbin, Duna and Eve. I imagine most of the strategies for minimum launches would carry over well to speedrunning. But the All World Firsts category would still be a long one, probably several times longer than All Planets.

I don't think there should be more categories without more runners, but for future reference...

  1. I think IGT No Quicksaves and Quicksaves should be combined. From what I understand, the quicksave was a strat needed to overcome a bug. The only issue might be is someone grinds a single mission to get the flight perfect, but the limiting factor will be the craft design anyway.
  2. You could do All Bodies versions of each IL category. "All Planets" would be "All Round Trips", and you can introduce "All Orbits" (allow unmanned so they're more like satellites). I still think Encounter or SOI Reached should be an IL category, so "All Encounters" would be interesting, not to mention much shorter and less intimidating to run.
  3. I know Mun is a special destination, but it can technically be an IL category.
  4. I think Jool 5 (all moons) would be a meaningful IL category since it's a large portion of All Planets. I would even suggest replacing the individual moon categories, since starting a career just to go to Bop is a bit weird. Another option is just have the planets, requiring that you do the same for its moons (ex. land on Eve and Gilly).

The Discord now has a channel for category and rule suggestions. That would be a better place to suggest categories since it will be more visible, but feel free to post here if you'd like.

A % for unlocking all the alternative launch sites now that 1.2 is out would be awesome, and probably lead to lots of creative ways of doing it.

Speedruns for planes that are about building crafts to reach destinations on Kerbin would also be fun.

You mean circumnavigating Kerbin while staying below 70km and periapsis below 0km? I guess that would be IGT. I could see that being a challenge rather than a speedrun, because you could calculate the optimal time just from that info. We do challenges like that once in a while in the Discord.

stable kerbin orbit, periapsis above 70 km and no escape trajectory

Stratzenblitz75 has a pretty solid run of that: Unfortunately they use info mods, so it wouldn't count on the leaderboard. Actually, TheWolfIan did a run and said he was 6th place. I should probably add this category to Misc.

For that information, I used Marcus House's orbit speed running leaderboard(12 runs) and Bradley Whistance's run of 41 seconds. Although, a lot of the runs on the leaderboard, and Bradley Whistance's run used info mods. If we aren't counting runs with mods other than visual mods, the leaderboard would look like:

1st place: Julian Danger - 53 seconds 2nd place: TheWolfIan - 54 seconds 3rd place: Mr Stock - 55 seconds

With a total of 5 runs without info mods that I could find.

This speed running category will be for the fastest time leaving the atmosphere of kerbin, orbiting kerbin, and landing safely back on kerbin. The rules for this category is no glitches allowed Time warping is allowed it has to be done in science on hard mode The timer will start as soon as you click create game end the timer and a soon as you hit quit back to menu. This category will have splits to.

I request Mun and back IGT and RTA glitchless as separate categories instead of being a little toggle.

These were consolidated to make the categories more organized, especially since this game has a problem of having too many categories. We can consider changing it back. You can also look at just one at a time by using filters.

Would the Jool 5 be good category?
