Yay, my career Mun and Back run's up!

I have some tech that might be handy to share- glitches, little tricks, ship designs, etc. Please let me know if you'd be interested and I'll be happy to share the details.

With it, I think a sub 5 minute may be possible for the Mun and Back RTA. I'll spend some time over the next couple weeks working on it, and would love company/competition if anyone is still into KSP speed running.

Very cool! Let me know when you're ready to get started and much KSP you've done, and we'll get ya going. One piece of the tech (the staging) requires a v.1.0.5 specific mechanic, and this version is still available through steam. For this reason, if you haven't purchased the game yet I'd recommend getting it there. See you in a couple weeks!

wow... very well done!

I refined the route just a bit further and played for a couple hours to see what times could be gotten with it. My quickest run wound up at 4:41, and the real battle ground from here will probably be pushing slowly on down to 4 minutes. If you watch this run, there's plenty of slop that could be taken out by solid execution, and there's several aspects which are yet to be fully optimized (ship building, the return path, landing). For anyone looking to enter (or reenter) the fray, I'm going to hold off on trying to push it anymore until someone else had held the record a bit and (hopefully) had a chance to inject some of their own tech into the run. We've got a ways to go yet! With any luck, execution on the caliber of the runs from a year back paired with the new route will make for some silly low times :D

Yo! I just checked up on the leaderboards, noticed you cut my PB in half. I'm really hyped about this and I think I'll give it a shot at some point.

Hey CunjoCarl, how did you get version 1.0.5? Whenever I try to roll back to 1.0.5 on steam, it never gets past loading "Squad/Parts/Aero/fairings/fairingSize1/fairingSize1" (apparently it's missing a texture file, based on my troubleshooting).

(also, if nothing else, could you just maybe upload your "aero" folder so I can replace my broken one?)

You got it! Happy to hear you're gonna give it a run. If it winds up taking more than just the fairing folder I'll troubleshoot it on this end and put together a fixit package. Shoot me an email at mike.irving at gmail.com and I'll send along the file. I wish speedrun.com had private messages, I could just send the link there! Oh well. Squad's all hands on deck for their upcoming DLC, so I'll let them know about the bug in a few weeks when things calm down.

Also, KSP has no DRM in it, so you can just drag the whole KSP folder to your desktop to have a working current version, then have Steam try to upload a v1.0.5 from scratch. Maybe that would help?

Both you and JazzSpeedruns have very crisp mouse movement, which I hope could cut a ton of time. Also, as before, let me know if you'd like info on the glitches/tech. There's still some more optimizing that could be done on the routing end as well.

I want to do this, but do not currently have a halfway decent setup for mouse + Keyboard. So I've been putting it off.
