It is possible to play this game using 3rd party programs and here is what it looks like:

Using DXWind, you can set the game up to be played in window mode, and at any forced resolution of your choice, just be sure to change the game option to once you're running the game.

Simple one to use, just download DXWind, extract it, run it, right click the empty spot, select "add" and set everything up from there, Locate New Groove in "Path" make sure "No Banner" is checked and the positioning to be on "Desktop Center"

You can screw around with the other settings on your own.

Have fun not requiring a second monitor which is used to dedicate the game to a single screen, if you didn't like that.
