So i was messing around and was like hey lets crash the game for fun and i wanted to do so by performing the cloud glitch and it worked i did no setup at all i did not jumped on the penultimate koopa i did not jump on the 2 koopas i just went for it and it worked. I always saw a lot of tutorials on youtube and the wiki and there was always a setup for the cloud glitch i just wanted to ask if that happened before and maybe why it worked?
Can't really offer an explanation without seeing a video of what happened unfortunately, but from your post I'm assuming you weren't recording
i did not record it no i was just practicing off stream i grabed the shell did fast yoshi and tried the glitch and it worked maybe i off screened the koopa at the right time i have no idea
There are actually a few RAM address values that will work (10 - easy setup, B5 - pixel perfect setup, B4 - needs setup if B5 isn't reached otherwise you crash, etc).
Since the game traverses open bus when the chuck is collected, it is possible that your bus was set up in SUCH a way it managed to work out of the blue (i.e. like @Vert stated: "dirty ram"). It is almost impossible to replicate if this happens however.
It could also be that you may be misremembering EXACTLY what you did to get your result. Since the event happens in RAM, whatever the koopas, yoshi, the shell, and many other game aspects/sprites/values the game keeps track of can also have an effect as to where or what the game will do when it reaches open bus.
Without video evidence, it is impossible to tell what ACTUALLY happened in your case. You can call it extraordinary luck if you'd like (you should see if you can use it for other tricks in speedrunning ;) ).
so i was exremely lucky got it thanks for the explanation i was just kinda shocked because i tried the pixelperfect setup before and got it like once or twice and i was like screw this and just went for it after fast yoshi and it worked and i was like HOW AND WHY haha
