Since the new update came out, all the top tier players are playing on the digital version. Do i need to buy the digital version to be faster? What I also wanted to ask is, on 1.3 everyone is setting the time on 1:53 AM before a run, why? Thanks to all the answers beforehand!

The time thing is a different thing entirely, called "DSTA" (Daylight Savings Time Abuse) and basically involves changing the time so that Daylight Savings Time changes Mid Run making a seed grow very quickly.

Yeah, the seed thing works by having the clock advance (via daylight savings) after you plant the seed but before you leave the rumble room. 1.3 digital is ~10 seconds faster than 1.3 physical, so in my opinion you don't need the digital version unless you're going for subhour, but if 10 seconds is worth $60 for you, then go for it.
