I'm a good player with a fixed mindset

Uhh, I'm typing this as I go Everything I type is not deleted so I am basically speaking from heart This is terrifying lets go on a trip When I started speedrunning, I was having a blast, just having a great time, PBing, just enjoying the process a bajillion. I was NOT a good player obviously, but with a what I believe to be, a growth mindset. I used to be really good at improving, and I could go ahead and just simply practice, everything was really smooth going and I focus, and improve. Not everything was perfect all the time obviously, sometimes I encountered problems but was always able to get past them. I kept this ALLLL the way until I got a 4:59, where everything just went downhill from there

I'm basically telling a life story of my Super Mario Bros. speedrunning, I guess, but I kinda want to tell the whole thing.

I know my goals are really ambitious, oh yeah, just go from No PB to a 4:59, and oh yeah mr. krabs I got a great idea go from 4:59 to 4:56 (I didn't actually decide this in the first place, it just started with ImDangerous20 and I just decided to keep going cuz ye boi)

Everything started going downhill since I was going for 4:56, yes I was improving, but here's what happened to my mindset, my mindset was going down. Eventually my mindset got bad enough that it became a FIXED mindset (I'm pretty sure) and then I was, uh, STUCK for a month.

That was a few months ago, I'm a little better now, I'm improving but veryveryveryveryvery slowly. I still have a fixed mindset, I don't like it. I don't like coming to practice this game, and it's either I have fun or I, don't know. I might just simply have to practice really hard and then just hate the game woo hoo apbbbbbbbbb.

All I'm saying really, is, I would like to approach challenges in a positive way, approach setbacks in a positive way, approach goals as a way of extrinsical motivation but not something I would focus on. Does anyone have any tips for working towards getting a growth mindset?

just... believe you can get there. ignore the journey and focus on the destination. just focus on the fact that you will get there eventually. that should help. but i dont know.

Everyone gets stuck at certain points. Just push through it.

Take a break. What your experiencing is like artists block, you know what time you want to get but you can't get yourself to do it or you over work yourself which will just have mostly negative results. I've been there with speed running myself, ended up taking a 3 month break and immediately started seeing improvements. Your break doesn't have to be that long, just as long as you feel like it.
