Yep Liliya used to do this, it's a comfort thing. It's 100% better for slot 7 and 8.

This was something I used to do when playing RE1 DS on emulator, and made a sort of... chart of where to put my mouse during specific sequences (picking up items) to get the most optimal menus possible.

Perhaps something could be done similar for Remake. Such as positioning your mouse pre-emptively during specific sequences where the last 2 slots are used immediately.
