I have no clue how relevant this is since I'm new and somewhat unfamiliar with Minecraft speedrunning but I figured it was worth asking about:

Something I've had the habit of doing in desert biomes is jumping on 1-2 block high cacti (depending on the terrain) and using the knockback to propel a bit forward. At some point my game lagged a bit and the cactus shot me about 10-20 blocks forward which worked in my favor obviously lol. I don't really see anyone else doing this so I'm wondering if I'm the only one and I'm stupid or if this is actually something that can be used? Would appreciate some thoughts :0

*based on the first reply, i don't mean abuse the glitch. i mean the regular knockback it gives NOT because of the glitch but because of the damage the cactus inflicts.

It's not really viable, it just randomly happens due to lag.

Sorry, I'm not referring to the glitched part. Just whatever knockback the cactus damage gives. It propels me forward because of the damage knockback, not the lag, that's what I'm referring to.

Well yes you're correct. The initial kb is because of the cactus, but the lag amplifies it. Because it is so unreliable to get it, you can't really call this a strat. I see no reason why the run should be called glitched if this happens.

Disregard the ENTIRE lag part, i didn't mean for this to be so confusing lol

I'm PURELY talking about the REGULAR knockback from the cactus damage. not the glitch, not the lag, JUST THE REGULAR KNOCKBACK.

idk how to phrase it any different lol. maybe i shouldn't have included the lag part in the first place. either way, i am referring to purely the vanilla knockback, nothing else. sorry for the confusion

If it's included in the game sure go right ahead. There is nothing stopping you from walking straight into a cactus.
