I went through my new death% run for 1-1 (6.59) and I noticed that the timer started the frame before the screen started to fade to black. should I retime it?

Do it, just in case. At examine both runs to see which ones look legitimate. Explain to mods if they have questions.

actually the run should be good because I thought the flashing animation was me clicking the mouse. the timer started when I clicked the mouse.
