I killed the boyle on the stairs with the springrazor, then took the note, it pointed me to a different Boyle, also killed her with a springrazor. but when she died the Samuel quest marker did not appear. This softlocked the game. This has happened to me 2 runs in a row and I'm wondering if it is something I'm doing wrong or if there is a way around it Thanks!

If you take the OoB note, and the first boyle that you killed wasn't the right one you gotta kill both of the remaining boyles.

You sometimes need to kill the Boyle that isnt marked.... idk how exactly it works, but if you kill the remaining Boyle you should be fine. So generally I would say: If the first one isnt the correct one- kill all of them.
