Quist (Part 1)

  • Time starts the frame before any movement or input is visible
  • After spawn, turn left and head W to follow starting fence
  • Move right around tree and cut across bridge parallel to river
  • Kill Mantrap (plant enemy) in farthest SW corner of map, snag the Silviera's Key it drops
  • Turn around and cross bridge, continue across field past many Mantraps to swinging gate in NE corner of map
  • Continue W, then N along twisting path into Ancient Battleground, to locked door with a Silviera's Key pedestal
  • Line up with Silviera's Key pedestal at locked door to Ancient Battleground, unequip Excellector and equip Silviera's Key in the item shortcut
  • Before exiting the menu, turn off Display Items in System > Option 2 Note: You may also want to turn off Walking Effect and set Compass to option C (off), but these are optional. Turning off the walking effect makes lining up for and assessing boosts easier and more visually consistent, and turning off the compass might save time due to marginally reducing the triangles the console has to draw (untested).
  • Press the item shortcut button (Select by default in the English version) to place the Silviera's Key in the pedestal, then open the door and proceed

Ancient Battleground

  • Take first right after entrance, continue until first tunnel
  • Take the left in the tunnel and enter the house to talk to Marilyn (old woman in rocking chair) and receive Marilyn's Charm (look as far to the left as possible before talking to her to reduce lag)
  • End dialogue after receiving charm by pressing cancel or down on the d-pad
  • Return to tunnel and continue N
  • Take left out of tunnel and continue W, passing the Stool (poison mushroom enemy)
  • Take a left at the fork past the Reaper (tree enemy)
  • Continue around the bends, grab Silviera's Key off corpse in NW corner of room with locked door and open door with it
  • Keep straight through tunnel and immediately turn left, enter Ed Edmund's house to N and grab Silviera's Key off table (if you grab the key and back up fast enough, the door won't close behind you)
  • Continue E, round bends and enter another locked Silviera's door
  • Use Marilyn's Charm on her son's dead body, enter door behind body and run into magic beacon to obtain Fire Magic (left strafe into the beacon to reduce lag)
  • Return the way you came and re-enter Ed's house (where you picked up the second Silviera's Key)
  • Use the door elevator glitch (https://www.speedrun.com/kf2/guide/12crl) to clip onto the roof of Ed's house and follow the path OOB for Ed Skip 2:

Garrison Barracks

  • Go straight at the 4-way fork, then take the next two rights to exit to Forest of Varde
  • The slime in the middle of the path after the fork can randomly one-shot you, so make sure you hug the walls

Forest of Varde (Part 1)

  • Head N after exiting tunnel, enter door
  • Take first left after Mantrap, pass 2 more Mantraps to the W, then enter door to the N at end of corridor
  • Perform door elevator clip on the opposite side of this door and jump the wall to the N
  • Continue N past the gap in the hedges and the tree, enter hut and talk to Varde to obtain Pixy's Map and Ichrius' Eye
  • End dialogue after you receive both items by pressing cancel or down on the d-pad
  • Use the Eye to warp to Ralugo Note: The amount of time it takes an NPC animation to complete before their text comes up is contingent on where you interrupt them in their animation cycle. If you are fast enough, you can just barely talk to Varde before his hand starts moving to the right again, saving a few seconds (known as "hand cycle").

Ralugo (Part 1)

  • Walk forward off the plank bridge and turn left, then follow along the lava river to the W to a narrow ledge leading to a ravine
  • Be sure not to go too far past the opening to this area when crossing the ledge, as the margin for falling off is extremely small here
  • After entering the valley, ignore the left path and go straight
  • Look for which way the Poison Red Eye blocking your path to the N moves and pass it on the opposite site (If you get bad luck, it might not move right away - be aware its melee attack is fatal at level 1)
  • You can barely pass by the first Para Stool to the NW (paralyzing mushroom) on the left side, but the window is pretty tight (if you get stuck, just wiggle slightly and tap left strafe it should let you through) Note: There's a bit of leniency in the time between you get in aggro range of the Para Stool and when it releases the paralyzing spores, so you'll generally be OK once you've practiced a bit.
  • Continue past the second Para Stool on the left and keep hugging the left wall until you reach a dead end
  • Snag the Blood Herb then use the Ichrius' Eye to warp back to the gold fountain in Ralugo

Ralugo (Part 2)

  • Head back across plank bridge over lava and aim between the house and tree to your N
  • Follow the line of Two-Headed Grave Pots to Janan's house and enter
  • Use Blood Herb on Janan (woman sitting on chair), exiting dialogue as soon as text appears
  • Leave the house, turn around, let door close, then open door again while pressed flush against it - it should start pushing you S as it opens
  • Open menu as quickly as possible after opening door and use Ichrius' Eye again to perform the Lava Skip 2 glitch (a.k.a Lava Skip Skip)

Ralugo (Part 3)

  • Don't touch the d-pad after the warp until you clip into and end up on top of the gold fountain in Ralugo (turning right and/or looking down while clipping is OK) Note: Moving too soon before completing the clip will cause it to fail, clipping you back into the room. You'll have to run back to Janan's house to do Lava Skip 2 again or do the backup OG Lava Skip strat (https://www.speedrun.com/kf2/guide/g7agd).
  • Once you've fully clipped to the top of the fountain, fall off toward the chest by the lava river to the E and grab the Wind Crystal
  • Head back W behind the fountain and continue S past Poison Red Eyes into Cave of Shudom

Cave of Shudom

  • Take the first left (up some stairs), then right (into a rocky tunnel), left (past a sitting Clay Golem), left (past one large and one small pillar), and left again (up a short staircase). When you come to a narrow path over a lava pit, jump off the walkway to your right to land on a lower section and continue SW to the magic beacon and obtain Earth Magic
  • After cutscene ends, use the Wind Crystal and Ichrius' Eye Note: Inventory cursor memory should default to Wind Crystal then Ichrius' Eye if you haven't used any items since Marilyn's Charm, so you can spam confirm after menuing each time.

Ralugo (Part 4)

  • Cross the bridge to the N again and head NE
  • You want to aim a bit to the left of the tall tree to the NE that appears immediately after crossing the plank bridge:
  • Continue to the NE across the field and enter the transitional path back to the Forest of Varde in the far NE of Ralugo
  • Continue following the path into the forest, hugging the left wall

Forest of Varde (Part 2)

  • Take the first large door you come to on your left (toward the giant Stool) and immediately turn left to the S
  • Take a right at the bend and continue as far W as you can go on this path then head N toward the blue fountain
  • Continue as far N as you can go on this path (passing the blue fountain on the right is faster), then turn right, cutting between the tree and the Reaper
  • Follow the path to the NE (ignore NW fork), passing another Reaper, and enter the cave that leads to the Palace of Wind

Palace of Wind

  • Talk to John Creel to open the door to the Palace of Wind
  • Cancel the dialog after the second text appears (you'll hear an unlock sound), then continue and open the door behind him
  • Head N, hugging the right wall as much as possible
  • Be aware there are 2 Crooked Demons directly ahead whose Wind Cutters will one-shot at this level - do your best to dodge their attacks, get around them and continue N
  • After ascending the first staircase, stay centered and keep heading directly N to pass between the first two Salamanders (wall-mounted face enemy) shooting fireballs
  • Ascend the second staircase while angling marginally to the left
  • Strafe right just enough to avoid both fireballs on the right but don't break for it entirely until after another fireball is fired from the rightmost Virulent (spiked wall-mounted face enemy) - otherwise it will still hit you: Note: The two Virulents on the top floor shoot homing fireballs (Fire Storm), so be aware they will arc toward you. All four Salamanders and Virulents are somewhat inconsistent and any given fireball may not fire in various circumstances. Adjust your path accordingly.
  • After dodging the fireballs, hang a right and hug the right wall, taking another right after descending a staircase
  • Enter the magic beacon to obtain Wind Magic
  • Use the Ichrius' Eye after the cutscene ends

Ralugo (Part 5)

  • Visit Lyn's house in the southeast of the town to buy supplies:
  1. Sell Excellector and Pixy's Map
  2. Buy Large Bow, Great Helm, Silver Arms, Silver Ring, & 0-5 Blood Stones Note: Blood Stones cure all non-poison status effects, and are essential for curing Dark and Slow statuses. You can get by without buying any, but avoiding Dark status in both Path of Poison and especially Cason is basically RNG. Therefore, buying least 1 or 2 is recommended. More than ~5 is generally overkill. It is possible to skip buying the Great Helm and Silver Arms if you are going for Giant Skip, but it will make you more vulnerable to back attacks from the Garan Tess (cyclops enemy) in the Valley of Garan later on. Skipping them does save a few seconds, but makes the hardest trick in the game just a little bit harder and less consistent.
  3. The recommended amount of Earth Herbs and Arrows you need varies based on your chosen route: a. Beginner route: Alchemine Kill, No Giant Skip: ~35 herbs, 99 arrows b. Intermediate route: Alchemine Skip, No Giant Skip: ~35 herbs, 60-70 arrows c. Expert route: Alchemine Skip, Giant Skip: ~10 herbs, 20-30 arrows Note: If you are planning on doing the beginner route and are worried about failing the Alchemine bow kill and running out of arrows, you can use Menu > Storage to place some arrows in storage, refill your inventory from Lyn, and pull them back out if you run out later. You can carry up to 198 arrows total using this tactic, but the time loss from this process is considerable.
  • Equip everything you bought and put the Earth Herb in your item shortcut and leave Lyn's house, heading directly N past a house toward a large door
  • Enter the tunnel, pass Joe Santos (he should be out of your way off to the right now) and continue through the tunnel toward Path of Poison

Path of Poison

  • With the Silver Ring equipped, you'll only take light damage from walking across the poison pools here
  • Continue through the passage, hugging the left wall
  • After turning left twice, continue straight all the way down the third hallway (ignoring the doorway to the left) and open the secret door between the two torches against the wall
  • Continue hugging the left wall, taking another left and proceeding down an extremely long hallway with descending stairs (some Grave Shadows (ghost enemies) will spawn here and try to inflict Dark on you - use a Blood Stone if you get hit, but make sure you wait for a few seconds after tanking the hit or else the Blood Stone will not actually cure the status)
  • After your next left, you'll be in the same corridor as the Alchemine (spider/woman hybrid enemy) Note: There are two strategies available to deal with the Alchemine who guards the Aquarian Boots. The skip here saves almost a full minute over killing her and requires far fewer arrows.
  1. ケロット / meaxudal strat (Alchemine Skip): a. Hug either the left or the right wall when approaching the Alchemine b. Get to and begin the opening animation for the hidden door behind the Alchemine ASAP, then strafe in the opposite direction of the side you approached from to avoid any possible attacks c. The Alchemine has both Fire Ball and Fire Storm (slow but tightly homing fireball) - learn to tell the difference between their sound effects to give yourself a better chance of dodging Note: You will frequently need to make a wild blind dodge if you get bad luck and she shoots a Fire Storm at you from behind. d. As soon as the door is open enough to get through, make a mad dash for the door, then immediately cut left and beeline for the chest in the corner e. If Alchemine shot a homing fireball before you made it into the door, you’ll need to open the chest and immediately strafe left and back up, then strafe right to dodge the shot, because it will usually chase you into the room and instagib you otherwise f. Pick up and equip the Aquarian Boots from the chest, then start opening the hidden door again g. Immediately after the door starts opening, strafe right along the wall to (hopefully) draw the Alchemine’s aggro away from the door while it is opening h. Strafe back left and dash through the door as soon as it is open enough to squeeze through and pray she doesn’t snipe you on the way out
  2. szsk strat (Alchemine Kill): (if timestamp doesn't work, go to 22:06)
  • Reference angle: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/593619518777982986/597514301753917450/Kings_Field_II_U_SLUS-00255-190707-154705.png a. Center yourself in the hallway b. Drop down two steps, stopping immediately after the second drop (extra steps forward can draw aggro from the Alchemine, ruining the strat) c. Line up using the picture above as a reference and fire 23-24 arrows at full strength (you will level up here if you haven’t killed any enemies not mentioned in the guide thus far) d. You do not need the Fire Crystal she drops, just open the door on the wall behind her and grab (and equip) the Aquarian Boots from the chest in the NW corner of the room Note: If you do not get a level up after the 24th arrow, you can reset your angle and try again, but keep in mind you will be perilously close to running out of arrows if you miss any shots later on. It may be better to just yolo an Alchhemine Skip if you fail the bow kill.
  • After grabbing the Aquarian Boots, head back the way you came, through the long hallway and back out the hidden door between the two torches
  • Hang a right as you exit the hidden passage and continue toward Lake Noel

Lake Noel

  • Upon exiting the tunnel, hang right and enter the parallel tunnel heading S and talk to Zul Arifin (hooded woman in the room by the save point)
  • Cancel the dialogue when she starts speaking exclusively in ellipses (you need to see her first 5 messages to proceed)
  • Press the item shortcut to give her an herb (this will both heal you and fulfill her request)
  • Turn the dial to the gray/dark green panel (4 rotations) then back out of the tunnel
  • Talk to Tim Lindquist (man sitting by the lake) and buy at least 2 Dragon Crystals (you technically only need 2, but you don’t need any more money from this point on, so it hardly hurts to buy more. Grabbing 3 is a decent idea if you go for Giant Skip because it can allow you to salvage a run if you manage to grab the Ichrius’ Crown but die before using it later on)
  • Follow the path of bridges to the Water Magic beacon Note: The Log Stalkers (wooden enemies with blue fireballs) here are capable of shooting a blue fireball at you as you are entering the beacon, and since you are unable to move for a period after the cutscene ends, this will frequently cause you to die and either end the run or cause massive time loss. There exist safe, fast and yolo strats for entering the Water Magic beacon: a. Safe strat: hug the S of the island and loop around to the W before approaching the beacon from the W to de-aggro the Log Stalkers and hope they don’t re-aggro in time to kill you b. Fast strat: hug the S as you cross the bridge, but begin turning right and strafing to approach the beacon from the S c. Yolo strat: Run directly into the beacon from the E and pray.
  • Run back the way you came to the dial and rotate it 5 times to the blueberry-colored panel (you can open the door behind you when you get to the red panel to save a bit of time)
  • Head back out on the bridges and proceed E, then N to the other shore leading to the Passage of Thieves
  • After the last bridge, head W and then N to grab a Power Fruit from a gravestone near some Log Stalkers
  • Continue W over the bridge toward a Para Stool that must be killed to proceed, 4 Poison Red Eyes and another (skippable) Para Stool
  • Feel free to kill the first Poison Red Eye on your way toward the shroom, as it makes killing the Para Stool easier and safer and only loses a few seconds
  • Run past the rest of the enemies and enter the Passage of Thieves

Path of Thieves

  • Take the first left after entering this area and hug the left wall
  • Dodge the first spikeball and continue along the wall to the W past two more
  • When you come to the fourth spikeball, slip by once to grab the Power Fruit in the barrel in the far NW corner of the room, then back up and wait for another cycle to approach the door to the N
  • When you come to an open room full of green slimes, hug the left wall and take the next path along the wall clockwise (to your immediate N) and exit the room heading W toward Cason

Cason

Note: There are two paths to reach Toni Gomez and get the Orladin’s Pic to cure the Headeater in the N of Cason and proceed to the Fields of Ice: a. Toni skip: goes out-of-bounds using door elevator in Toni and Priscilla’s house then proceeds along the edge of the map E and hops the river, saves ~5s: b. OG strat: uses the bridge to the N and the doubles back to the SE to reach Toni
