so for a while, ive been making a speed runners version of infinity platformer. since trying to make the menu was an absolute failure, im just gonna show this now and hope it gets accepted as the new version to play it on.
the updated features are: 1. pressing g makes you go back a level (which is great for il grinding)
-
rescued white ball from the scrap heap (some of the balls were killed off for some reason so ill fix that soon)
-
added a timer (credits to @HonuAkamai for helping me with the code) I tested it out, and its pretty accurate. will add splits sometime too.
some things are glitchy, but all of the physics are the same. I will be making a few updates to this over some time so it will become way better than now.
here's the link: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1125908345/
I made this since if we make a thread about every small thing the threads willl get clogged up and we dont want that since thats annoying and this is still a small game thread
since a while back, I've had this internet problem in which some websites dont appear at all and tell you to enter some weird password thing I've never made. I've called the company, but they haven't fixed it yet. so, as of now, are there any alternatives that I can use until it's fixed?
just what I hope will be an equally successful copy of the username thing.
about mine: so before mine used to be a plain old stupid boring picture of the sr.c trophy, but I looked up "Christmas hat" and mashed these two images together in powerpoint (??) and voila! my amazing creation.
now on with your story.
lalalalalalalalalala
rehehehehehehe
mwahahaha
this thread will be about doing silent messages, emoting, and breaking /discussion of speed run.com features. HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
I got a run in which the time between when the time between when I dropped the bridge and the ending screen was about 10 seconds, where should I stop the timer in this case?
How about a new filter feature in which you can filter runs by the country they have? A country filter on speedrun.com would allow users to easily find and compare runs from specific regions. It could also help foster community among runners from the same country.
Right now, when I press the run (B) button, I go up to turbo, and I can’t find any option to turn it off. In the game controls, you can see the closest to a turbo button there is the B button, and I can’t seem to separate turbo-running from normal-running. It’s not that my OpenEmu version is old, because it’s the newest version available (v.2.4.1). Hope a solution is found.
Hello! I'm NoiceGood, and we need YOU to give us ideas on how to time a phase! A phase is when you warp through a wall. Examples are here:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1q0y2ythfmA
Phases happen in places with two walls close together, and an empty space on one side to warp to. The O phase is special because it's the only phase that has 100% accuracy if you follow the precise steps. The other two are pretty inconsistent at best. The steps are in the description of the video. So far, I've found 3 levels where phasing is possible, which I've shown in the videos above. If you've done a phase that's not any of the three above, report it here hopefully with video evidence. If you think a phase is possible and has not been found yet in any of the levels, also report it here. Now, to the topic of the thread. How should we time a phase? So far, there's been two ideas:
-
The time ends on the first frame you start to phase into the wall. With this idea, you could just slightly phase into the wall, which would be significantly easier than a real phase.
-
The time ends when you've been inside the wall for 400 milliseconds. With this idea, runs where you phase really quickly in and out of the wall would not count.
-
The time starts on the first frame you phase into the wall but the run only counts if you continue to stay in the wall for 400 milliseconds.
Note: when contributing an idea, try to format it like the two above. good ideas will be added into this post, alongside them. when enough ideas are gathered, we will make a vote.
This is how the vote will be like: https://www.speedrun.com/redball1/news/k06v756m

it's like the Advertisement Thread, but you complain about a game you hate so much, you want no-one to ever suffer the horrible pain of ever playing it again.
As the title suggests, I found a crash in level 9 of Red Ball 1. Add new category to level 9? (READ MY NEXT COMMENT FOR VITAL UPDATE!!)
While I was messing around with the game, this happened.
If there is a specific set of inputs you can do to replicate this, I think it is possible to make a new category. Inside D%, maybe? The rules could be something like... when any bit of the ball goes inside the D, the time ends. If that becomes the case, my full run would be a a 3:46. I have the full run, so if Inside D% category is created, I can provide the first run.
As the title suggests, I found a crash in level 9 of Red Ball 1. Add new category? for people wanting to skip to the crash action, go to 2:15. I did a ridiculously long and unneeded description in the video, so don't bother to read it.
