I agree with komrade, we need to know what games you're talking about to give you a specific answer.
As for possible reasons why similar game submissions might get different answers, I can think of several:
- One game might have been added by a series moderator
- One game may have been added when the game request rules were different
- One of the games may have been requested by a trusted member of the site
- One of the games may have an already established community
- One of the games may be popular enough that staff were willing to add it despite it not meeting the requirements
- One of the games may have had a more thorough description in the submission
Speedrun.com's game request rules are infamously inconsistent and confusing.
According to sloth he was never underaged and you fabricated screenshots in order to get him banned. I have no idea if that is true, but I do know that you've been constantly harassing slothboy for months on end for seemingly no reason, so it's not unbelievable.
Like you I first got into speedrunning by watching youtube videos. My first exposure to speedrunning was through watching Bismuth's videos on smb1. I did my first speedrun in 2018 but didn't record it, and I didn't make a speedrun.com account back then. In late 2019 I discovered the game Mobility on coolmath games and after I realized that I had beaten the world records for several ILs, I made an account in 2020 to submit my runs.
I've seen the take "ads are just based off the searches you make" a lot, and it pisses me off every time I see it. Most people getting these ads aren't searching up porn, but even if that was the case, speedrun.com should not be showing porn ads to minors under any circumstances!
There used to be, but they removed it for some reason.
Now not only am I getting a ton of spam notifications for games that have a lot of tied IL records like worlds hardest game and the new super Mario bros games, I'm also getting top 3 runs notifications for all these ILs as well since there I had notifications on for top 3 full game runs before the update.
@yummy_bacon the game requests rules in the knowledge base don't have that section for some reason, so when I double checked the rules I assumed that visual novels were fine
@GetLow my point is that you have nothing to complain about, since visual novels are being added to the site and there are plenty of them that you can speedrun. I bring up your run because I assumed that it was the initial reason you made the thread.
I really don't understand what exactly you want speedrun.com to change. Despite visual novels being not allowed according to speedrun.com's old rules which aren't even linked in the knowledgebase anymore, src has added and continues to add visual novels, as well as other games which are explicitly not allowed according to the game requests rules. Almost every single game gets accepted to the site nowadays
