The brain capacity can also be similar to someone who had tried to attempt beating Yo-kai Watch 1 hitless, unless their name is ChocoBrawler, their brain capacity is much higher.
Sugar, I am unsure if you are the right person to run this. A qualified runner for this category would need to have the Speedrun skills of Kosmic in SMB1, the endurance of someone like Kosa when he did the relay, and most importantly, a brain capacity similar to DtS runners. Do you think you have what it takes?
Busters T - The main problem with this category is pretty obvious, it is way to hard for someone to sit through this trash sidemode to begin with, let alone Speedrun it. The pro, is that if you do this, you have balls of steel.
I see you have 12 splits when there are 11 chapters in the game. I see something about McCraken on the 11 split, do you mean beating McCraken 1? I am just curious where all you split, there isn't anything wrong with using more than 11.
I didn't want to post this, but I am just putting this out here because honestly, this issue is massively plaguing this game at the moment. (Note: Categories which aren't DtS)
For those not aware, recently, the runner HystericZero2/Despressiion had his runs removed. This was because his old runs had extremely fishy splits (most notoriously sub 20 minute chapter 11), and the other active mod, Nerdy, and I both refused to believe he improved so fast. Something both of us still stand by.
The reason I bring this up is because it lead into us basically having a back and forth arguement on what rules we need to implement to prove a top runner is legit. I argue we should enforce recording for runs 2:20 RTA (the main category) and under (btw we recently switched to RTA). However, Nerdy and some others do not enjoy recording and argue we should still do something, but not that.
Nerdy and I are still planning to figure this out, however, please feel free to give us suggestions for this.
Additionally, I promised I would look for easy ways to record without a capture card, so please inform me with those methods if you have them.
To contact us, your best bet is to join the Yo-kai Watch Speedrunning discord and either dm us or ping us in the Yo-kai Watch 1 channel. (Note: At the time of this post I am currently not using discord so I don't get distracted by it, but I will be back on soon and should see it eventually).
I will delete this forum post once we have our rules adjusted. Thank you for your patience with these.
Actually, if bug/critter rng works in the way I was discussing in the Speedrun server recently, all critters could work.
A lot of people like to suggest new categories for this game, so here are some things to consider before you suggest one:
- How unique is it? (Bad ex. Die to Gargaros is basically die to snartle)
- Is it something people would run (Bad ex. Hitless would be cool, but not something anyone would want to run)
- Does it make sense to be a category? (Good ex. Infinite Inferno because Wobblewok is considered the end boss of the post game; bad ex. Beat Snartle (not too significant). If you think your idea is good I recommend discussing it in the YW1 section of the Speedrun discord. If others agree and it is something other runners would be interested in running then start to make a route (best if done with a few other runners if possible). After that we will need a recording of the run, submit the recording to Nerdy or I and if all is good enough, it could be a new category.
Only reason I am not removing this run is because Nerdy didn't want me to. I find the individual times in each split very fishy.
Also, make sure you read the rules for not just the game, but the category itself.
Yeah, I don't want us to add a bunch of miscellaneous categories just to add them. Die to Snartle was enough in this vein in my opinion.
Honestly, I think Nerdy is who I would consider the overall best runner for the series at the moment. Considering how many games he runs, WRs he has, and just how well he does in each game.
