cutscene load in times were killer. ggs, hope this isnt your last run. keep improving
how is it that so many people tied with the exact same time down to a millisecond, almost proving that its the maximum score and then someone just up and beats it by a whole 16 ms. like how tf does that happen
that said, ggs
not bad! im excited to see you improve. if you want to try this again, here's a couple things that i hope might help (its very in-depth, but might help you cut your time by two minutes)
- you should try tss (tutorial skip skip) which would make warping to marathon initially a decent bit faster. its kinda hard to explain, so i would suggest joining the discord for tips
- your marathon actually looks pretty good. you definitely have the right idea going to the left, but you shouldn't neglect moving up and down. it might help if you go a little big more to the left, but always be able to see the dust trail behind you. but i think youve already got the reaction time setup down, so gg seriously, thats the hardest part to get used to
- you might wanna consider doing the order marathon -> rugby -> table tennis -> climbing -> archery -> artistic swimming -> skateboarding. this is because the first four in that list are the only ones that actually affect your time while the other three have a set time, so you'll be able to see if the run is good earlier on
- make sure you're familiar with the controls. the spacebar can be used to select options much faster than the mouse, and you can press "1" or backspace to go to the compass menu faster
- you might wanna practice getting used to artistic swimming. you passed on the first try (not everyone does, so gg) but if you practice a bit then youll win more consistently and never have a dead run resulting from it
- for climbing, hold out jumps longer and only press the <- and -> keys (or "a" and "d" if youre using wasd). watch wasiyosi's world record run and practice replicating the route he uses, even if not at the same speed. the route is optimized and actually fairly easy when you get used to it, and much less variable than relying on the blue handholds
- not a tip, but damn bro youre pretty good at archery, gg
- don't pass in rugby, it is slower than just using lucky the whole time (which is very possible). there are three lightning power-ups in the level, one toward the beginning, one at the halfway point at the bottom of the map, and one in the middle toward the end. pick up all of these, and juke out the big red oni at the beginning (watch other runs or join the discord to figure out how to do this)
- for skateboarding, just get over 5001 points and then stop doing tricks. its a very laggy minigame, and doing anything more than the required passing score will make your game lag (sometimes a lot) (that said, holy shit your score is pretty awesome, gg)
- doing table tennis well is HARD. however, there are certain points that you can use the power shots to make it as fast as possible (join the discord and check guides to learn more about that), but otherwise practice missing no balls. trust me, this is probably the hardest part of the run. even i can only get a good table tennis about 10% of the time dude this was a great run. ggs man. i hope to see you in the top 20 soon :)
hey buddy have fun getting sub 8:30 stay at least 3 spots behind me
Things to focus on when you join the discord (in “guides” channel”) would probably be the Fast Table Tennis Strats, and the TSS. Otherwise, asking about rugby to some experienced players (and probably marathon too) would get you some high-quality advice
