I know what trick I'll use in my next run.

Here are some skips that I found within some of the Special Assignments.

I just made a playlist of our various Lego city skip videos on YouTube.

  1. So we don't have to keep consistently posting skips here (even though two are posted here). and
  2. I figured it makes sense to do this sort of thing.

Here's that playlist:

Hope this becomes useful for anyone in the future.

Found a way to skip the lever in Disruptive Behavior Can probably save 45 seconds if done perfectly (edit) You have to use the first dynamite first, so it's probably only an IL strat

Awesome thanks!

Okay, so it turns out that most likely this doesn't work, because you need to blow up the first dynamite before you can leave the room. This means that it is most likely only an IL strat, it would be too risky in a run

(This is for 100% (hopefully)) Some superbuilds on the Wii U version cost a lot, and there aren't enough superbricks to unlock all of them and farming light posts and trash cans is a pain.. So... If you keep entering and reentering The Colossal Fossil Hustle, you can keep getting the superbrick (which would now be worth 20,000 because you completed the game). After you get it, leave it and repeat. Do this until you have enough :P

The best place to farm super bricks is to do the dojo special assignment over and over again. You will get 80k bricks (after completing the game) in about 3-4 minutes.

I completely forgot about that one! Thanks :D

I completed the game 100% not too long ago (though on PC). I believe there are enough Super Bricks to pay for all the builds. Of course this is best done by just collecting the necessary bricks in Story Mode, then all the other Super Bricks with the x2 multiplier, this of course would require timing and routing them. Shouldn't be a pain though since you have to go pretty much everywhere in 100%

When I completed 100% I took breaks from story mode to explore the city. I didn't have the x2 multiplier, that must be why I didn't have enough bricks.

Lol that's really funny. Doesn't save any time but if it works consistently it could make for a good "strech your legs" break.

Found a pretty much consistent way to skip the plane in The Colossal Fossil Hustle Only tested on PC

WOW that's a great find! I tested it for the WiiU and it works perfectly. Needed a few minutes to learn the angle to jump but it works. It saves about 22 seconds + you can skip the two most costly 10k bricks.

Maybe the engine is built so that two solids that form a wall can be climbed because the hit collection is a unit off. So that you can stand on a solid even though its a wall. This would mean that many flat walls might be climbable.

Not sure how to explain. I'll think on it for a while.

It's more likely to be the corner + the blocking wall that make this certain skip possible. I don't know if you're familiar with Super Mario 64, but their walls basically attempt to push you out if you push into them. If this is similar the corner is trying to push you out, whilst the back wall is trying to push you back in, causing you to stay in place, which is likely why you need to be on an angle rather than straight into the gap. You likely have 10~20 degrees to work with, (35-55 degrees on the corner,) so you should have a bit of leway getting these tricks to work.

Wow, I think the harder route is still faster though by a hair though. Unless the run gets very, very, very optimized then this is the go-to way. I will definitely use this until that happens(which it most likely won't), great find nonetheless. :D I understand what you're saying Trajan, there are probably more exploits like this.

Found a couple more strats when I was practicing/routing 100% stuff.

Skips for Dirty Work and the Drill skip might be useful for Wii U version as well. Others are handy for remastered, since the way it's done on the Wii U doesn't work for that.

Good finds Menno! I watched these skips a few times and I wanted to give my thoughts if you don't mind.

The Dirty Work setup to skip the the red color swapper is definitely worth practicing. I haven't tested this out on the WiiU yet, but I am certain it will work. I think more runners will use this over the original setup I found a few years back since it looks harder, but at the same time easier.

I didn't know that the speedrun strategies/routes for Smash 'n' Grab and They All Scream for Ice Cream were patched in the remastered release. I do hope both tricks you found will help any remastered runners.

I'm not so sure on the Drill-cutscene skip, as you said it might be useful but I don't know if runners (both Original and Remastered) should be utilizing it in runs. I might need to play around with it in cutscenes to see if it really is useful.
