Hey, it's me again. I would like to report that I have found a frankly obvious glitch if you have done Lake Skip Glitch before. It allows you weigh-in after you have done so already. Here is a video of it being done: As you can see in the video, you perform Lake Skip up to the reset, but instead of resetting, you select yes to weigh-in again. I thought someone mentioned it; however no one has, so I must now ask, is this legal in any%?
I meant to try and recreate this on console to see if it behaves the same. Give me a little time and I'll do just that. Then we can go from there.
I tried it, but all it seems to do is replay the weigh-in again. Performing the glitch after the second weigh-in still only skips one tournament. Is there something I'm missing?
It isn't an exact replay, the weights on the leaderboard change.
Lets say you lost by a very slim margin, getting fourth place. You could weigh-in again and hope the third place weight decreases enough for you to get third and progress to the next lake.
I have never gotten it to work like that yet, so it is only theory. That is to say, I haven't been trying it. It would lose too much time for any% Glitched, and its legality in any% is currently TBD.
I'm not sure I understand the condition of the glitch fully. The original post says it's quite obvious, but then later it's said that's it's only a theoretical glitch, and maybe can't be reproduced with consistency.
If it is a theoretical glitch, then I feel like a discussion on the legality of the glitch in Any % is kinda putting the cart before the horse. Like, we think we can do this glitch, but where would it belong?
My first instinct would be to keep Any % and Any % Glitched separate. The video seems to indicate that this is a major glitch, which would fit more closely in the Any % Glitched category.
Including this glitch into Any % I feel would really discourage people from running the game "as-intended", especially while a similar/same category for glitched runs already exists.
So, maybe once the glitch is actually figured out, it can be a new strategy for Any % Glitched.
Apologies, perhaps I should have separated those ideas. The theory was just about the glitch's use case, and the glitch is easily reproducible. It is only a theory because I haven't produced a scenario where I lost by some tiny margin, since if the weight does go down, it is marginal at best.
Despite bugging the graphics for a bit, the game and graphics seem to return to normalcy once you reach the actual weigh-in sequence, so it is mediate.
I should be more clear by saying it only retriggers the weigh-in, nothing more in terms of gameplay.
Now that I see what you want from the category, I agree that it really shouldn't be allowed in any%. It is just hard to tell what is legal in a category based on the category rules or rather the lack thereof.
Okay, so you're basically talking about a re-roll of the weight-in amounts, right? Like, if you tried to complete Level 1 at 22 lbs and juuuuuust didn't make top 3, you could re-weigh in and try your luck again?
If so, that's not a glitch (except for the graphical oddities in your video), but an in-game feature to help you progress through the game. I wouldn't see anything wrong with utilizing that feature in a speedrun, except that it would waste time. It's well within the rules stated (which is pretty wide open).
I was under the impression that you were able to successfully glitch your way into the Top 3 with some sort of re-roll after catching only 1 bass. At least that's what the video seemed to indicate.
I'll look into the stated rules and see if I can make things more clearly. If anything doesn't communicate well or clearly, feel free to suggest edits.
