Notes Locations

The notes are named here like they are in the texture folder of the game. I put them in the order of how they would be found during a regular play-through.

The description will be more detailed where the route is far off from the current speedrun.

The official name is 'Notes', but since most of them look like letters I used that name for them in my descriptions. Furthermore, the appearance of the notes are differing between the Russian 'original' version of the game and the translated English version.

Exempts from the English manual:

Hospital 1

1. Note - masha.tga

Right at the start. You can't miss it.

Hospital 2

2. Note - sivorodka.tga

When you start Hospital 2 you'll need to get into the building that is across the huge open space on your left. In order to do that, you head to the small house, where a truck is parked next to it. (You have to walk around the truck to get into the house.) there you trigger a switch to open the door to the building. Go to the second floor. The right path is blocked with rubbish, so take the left side and follow the hallway. You'll get to a door. Go through it and up to the small window until the scripted scene is starting to play. This triggers the door to your left to open. It'll take you to the room where the scripted scene took place. That is where the letter is lying on the table.

3. Note - mashina.tga

Can't miss it again. At the end of the level, where you pick up the keys for the car.

Kolhoz 1

4. Note - kuriWarn.tga

Right at the start proceed to do the typical speedrun skip at the wood pile. Now you have 2 choices stay on top and avoid an enemy trigger, or drop down on the other side to walk to the shack. to skip the enemies you have to stay behind the fence on height with the oil tank.

Kolhoz 2

5. Note - gorod.tga

This letter is at the end of the level. Where you would normally use the dog to jump over the fence you continue the intended way up the tower. At the top there are these metallic covers. On one of them is the letter along with two health flasks.

Plant (1)

6. Note - eshelon.tga

When you get out of the cart head to the back of the hall into the small room on the right under the metal walkway. The letter is in there stuck to the wall.

7. Note - vladimir.tga

In the room with the Molotov cocktails there is also a letter on one of the shelves. It's the room before you go up to the conveyor belt, also known as the room where you get back into the level after successfully performing the train skip.

Plant (2)

8. Note - probi.tga

At the beginning of the second plant part go left and follow the hallway until you reach a door with a window to see through. Open it. In the room there should be a lot of boxes. The letter is on a crate together with a health bottle.

Old Town

9. Note - liuda.tga

This one is in one of the buildings you would walk through in a regular play through. After getting out of the bunker go the normal way and then into the courtyard. Locate a passage where a truck is parked. Enter on the left before the truck. There it is. The destroyed stairwell with the letter lying on the ground behind the stairs.

10. Note - ActivSun.tga

Coming from the last letter location continue on until you are outside. (If you didn't read the previous letter description: get to the other side of the apartment block.) Then continue through, up, over. down and past until you are looking down to an area where a car is parked. There is a staircase to that lower level and even further right there is a locked passage down to the street-level. On the wall between the stair and the passage is the letter, which looks almost like it is one of the propaganda wallpapers seen everywhere.

Totalitarianism 1

11. Note - gotovnost.tga

This on is right at the start of the level. Just walk over it. But be careful! If you hug the corner on the right to tightly you can miss the letter.

12. Note - gorVoda.tga

When you get onto the streets in this level there is a water dispenser on the way to the end of the level. On it is a letter. If you walk down the streets from the beginning the machine is facing in the same direction you are. So if you can't find it it's probably behind you.

Totalitarianism 2

13. Note - gorOW.tga

This letter is on the Lenin(?) statue in the first part of the level. I'm not going to describe it further, it should be pretty obvious.

City Council

14. Note - dliababini.tga

Objective: Meet the general. Goal: Get the letter. Letter description: The signature is missing. Has to be fake. Additional Info: Only obtainable after his dramatic speech and inevitable death.

Tram

15. Note - podgovSunActiv.tga

Another letter you'll stub your toe on at the start of the level.

16. Note - tramvai.tga

Finally an interesting letter again. This one is pretty far off from the usual path. At the end of the level where the tram station is don't go down to the tram. Instead walk over the big bridge past the car. On the left side of the rubble the is a way down to a platform. Go to the end of it and find the letter and two health potions.

17. Note - detali.tga

You'll see this letter lying on the ground while casually walking to the tram.

Yards

18. Note - lolita.tga

The letters in this level are all on the way. The first one is in the first yards area (after the short city transition). It is the courtyard where the shotgun dude is. To the right of the out of order fountain it is laying on the ground.

19. Note - dvornik.tga

This one is right in the next area after the previous letter. It is hanging on the closed door where you normally would use the dog to jump over.

20. Note - jilci.tga

The last one of this level is right at the end gate. So just make sure to take this letter with you on the way out.

Cinema 1

21. Note - kinoKey.tga

NO! Don't use the skip over the burning pit! There are two letters inside the cinema. The first one is on the left door right after entering the cinema.

22. Note - opiat.tga

This letter is in the projector room. Getting there is a bit tricky after not seeing the cinema insides for quite some time, but using the casual route you can't skip it. Ok, here goes: You are still at the entrance of the cinema. Go through the door on the right side of the room. Then follow the gangway to the end, enter the door on the left and activate the lever inside. That opened the gate at the entrance room. Go back there. Then go up the stairs. Use the right side of stairs. once you are up them you should see another set of stairs. Continue upwards. There will be a lot of enemies on the way. On this floor there is only one way so continue onward until you get to the elevator. Use the door to the right of the elevator. Et voila! There you are.

Cinema 2

23. Note - KrisiWarn.tga

Why is this level called Cinema 2? You are already out of the cinema. Anyways, this letter is right at the entrance of the metro.

Metro 1

24. Note - Eskalator.tga

This one is tricky. Go the normal speedrun route until you skipped the falling door. Right after that room there are escalators to your right. The letter is at the bottom of them. There is an invisible wall near the bottom of the stairs, but you can jump over it. The bigger problem will be getting back up...

Metro 2

25. Note - WarnVagon.tga

This one is simply after getting out of the subway cart. Next to the dead guy there is the letter on the ground. (strangely, this letter is in the folder for Metro 1 in the game files)

26. Note - revizia.tga

Continue the regular speedrun route. It is where you pick up the key for... something.

Opera

27. Note - eliuzia.tga

Welcome to a world of illusions! Welcome to the opera! Presenting today: The invisible letter! The letter is on the left of the prompter (When looked at from the audience). And yes, it is invisible, but should be roughly where i put the arrow.
