Anyone can join if they're interested. Only rules are: don't take warps and show up on time haha.
Okay I quickly put together the world's worst diagram of how I have mine setup for audio to the capture card.
If you're wondering how I get it to my TV, I use the RF modulator.
What do you all mean by "official?" That we do them on SRL? Other than that it's we pretty much picked a time and whoever wants to show up can show up.
We have been discussing this.
Is there proof somewhere that this rule is 100% accurate?
There was a lot of interest in bringing back the weekly warpless races. I ran a poll and the winning time was 9PM EST on Saturdays. If you are interested in joining, just show up on SRL a little before 9PM EST on Saturdays and join the race. Hope to see you all there!
My goals? Sub 19:20 in Warpless. Sub 4:30:00 in SMAS All 5 100%.
Well. Whoever it is has already deleted their account.
You may or may not be SMG69. You did, however, take one of AndrewG's old PBs and submit it as your own.
Moderator here. I am so so sorry to inform you we could not accept your run. Didn't show the reset man. So unfortunate. Maybe next time ;-)
Emulators aren't official either.
We have quite a few VC runs on the leaderboards and it wouldn't surprise me if some of those were people who hacked their Wii to put more roms on them without buying them. So I personally don't see a lot of difference between loading roms on a Wii and loading roms on the SNES Classic. Framerate should be the same between the two systems and they are slower than original console and PC emulators.
Yeah, I'll do that a bit on the pipes in 1-1 when I'm bored or frustrated. You have to be going the right speed and hit the right spot to be able to do that. I don't feel there would be a good reason to use that in runs as it would most likely be slower. If you see people such as Kosmic or myself clip into the platform in the underground of 1-1...this is the same thing, just a different object.
I've seen adding other people's times to the leaderboard without their permission lead to some bad things in other communities. We take the stance of "if someone wants their times on the leaderboard, they can submit them to us."
Asking for roms on the forums is a big no-no.
Kosmic's 4:56.462 would be 4:57.824 on WiiVC since the frame rate is 59.824. I just did the math really quickly and didn't double check it but you should get the idea.
The on screen timer is not needed. It's nice and we do like to see it, but not a requirement. We will ensure that the submissions are timed properly regardless of what your splits say.
I do want to make a correction to the comment @Darpey made. It does matter what platform you play on. If we are using patterns to time your run and you're playing on VC for example, your time will be converted due to the difference in framerate.
@Odezza We can and we DO verify upper tier runs to the thousandth of a second. We have spreadsheets and screenshots. How it works is when you enter the final room of 8-4, the patterns with Bowser's movement, his hammers, his fireballs and the podoboo is different on every frame. However, if you enter that final room on a specific frame, the pattern will always be the same. What has been done is screenshots of each pattern have been collected roughly from the 4:56-5:02 range. Each frame when you enter that final room gives you a different pattern. We reference the screenshots and/or spreadsheets and are able to get an exact time based on the patterns.
@habs SDA and SRL are not RTA leaderboard sites. TG doesn't allow "glitches."
- A combined list? Not that I'm aware of.
- Fastest run not on our boards? That's an impossible question to answer. It could be on another board, it could not be on any board. Some people don't like their times on a leaderboard or have taken them down.
- Existence of sub 5 runs with video not submitted here? Probably.
As Timmi, said posting in our forums or joining the 2D Mario Discord (under resources) are your best options to get your questions answered. Please don't ask others for the ROM nor where to find them. That's something you will likely need to figure our on your own.
So basically this would be an emulator only category via loading savestates to each castle?
