Out of curiosity, I just checked Post's run. Using the discrepancy between the timer and ingame clock I figured that he lost no time between first and second segments but must have paused for 10secs between second and third, and he kept the timer going. Overall very little of Post's gameplay is missing from the VODs.

He might have paused the timer between 1st and 2nd segments but why would he if he's gonna accept the time lost between 2nd and 3rd?

Misterpost's vods are sufficient to verify his time.

As for there being 'no rules', if you click on 'show rules' it says:

'Timer starts when you gain control over Carl Johnson and ends when you lose control as the cutscene where the firetruck with Tenpenny falls of the bridge in End of the Line starts. The video has to show that you're starting the run from a fresh game start, because not everything is reset correctly when starting a new game from ingame. Alternatively, add timestamps in the comment for all swimming sessions up to the first lung capacity upgrade when you submit a time.

Ractot tested a bunch of ideas. Apparently you can buy PW before taxi missions and warp to PW after taxi, doesn't seem worth it though.

Could the warp I showed save time in 100%? I don't know how much money you have before the party

In a previous pb my stream went down 4 times and I spent 2mins fixing it (estimating using the time discrepancy between wsplit and ingame clock). I took this 2mins off my time and submitted it, because I had heard from a stream somewhere that if stuff like that happens during your run the mods don't mind if you pause the timer. Though I included the RTA time in the comments too.

Initially the time with the 2mins taken off was accepted, but at some point those 2mins were added back on. So Cyber you're not the only one that has had this rule applied against you. RTA is RTA, dems da rulz. My internet also sucks, which is why I'm gonna record locally and submit to youtube from now on. I realise that you care more about streaming than I do, but surely you can work something out rather than just complaining about it?

So I was trying to replicate Bastant's latest glitch (http://www.speedrunrecords.com/Grand_Theft_Auto_Vice_City/thread/ruqeb) using the party and not BaB.

You take the mission after replay tommy tries to buy the property. This delays the purchase of the property until you've finished the mission, and it teleports you there. It's similar to the clothes change glitch

This particular warp is useless because of no CC, but I feel like this must have potential somewhere else

@sixfour - interesting theory, although the game doesn't do any tracking when you rebuy the assests (at least it doesn't add %), so I doubt it will work. but hey, try it!

OK. So there's 2 ways of doing this trick fast.

First is to buy it then immediately press replay

Second is to press f2-f3-f1. Pressing f2 then f3 restarts the replay thing so replay Tommy gets to the marker quicker, once replay Tommy is in the marker press tab (or whatever button you use to buy assests) then wait for the replay to end. This method is much more consistent which is why everyone is using it

I'm not sure when I'll get around to running it though, I want to improve in Any% first

I've been through the phone call flow chart to find out what phone calls you should get when in this category (according to my route), the number refers to the priority, the lower the number the higher priority. Note only including phone calls you wouldn't take before shakedown in regular any%. You get 3 extra phone calls, Ken Scared, Kent asking to be in one of your movies, and Phil inviting you to do missions for him

Is anyone else interested in a category where you replace SSA and CP with Malibu and Film Studios?

Earlier I played around and made a rough mission order for it, if anyone wants to help route/test it feel free:

pre-shakedown - same as any% but do cone crazy one more time shakedown bar brawl pp malibu 1 taxi 1 by malibu 2 film 1-4 police heli to copland take police heli to malibu, do malibu 3-4 pw 1-2 taxi 2 taxi 3 (park the zebra cab like you park the ice cream truck in any%?) tahmmy tahmmy....

I'm not sure where phone calls would fit it in, that's one thing I need to test

@sixfour - I think once the infernus despawned it was out of the memory, so your new car just took the infernus' previous spot, so the vcn was fine

Now it's been pointed that this can only work if his starting position is far back, which doesn't happen often. However I found a way to consistently make him start far back.

Now do you notice how I walk really slowly into the cutscene and therefore am far away from him when it begins? I think that his starting position correlates with how close you are to him in this cutscene, which in turn depends on how you enter the cutscene. The testing I've done confirms this theory. This makes sense from a developer's POV - putting everyone on a level playing field

So if you sprint into the cutscene (no matter which elevator), Tommy gets right next to him and when the chase starts the guy is already a mile in front. If you walk normally he's a little bit further back but it's still hard to hit him in the corridor though I think it might be doable if you're skilled. If you do what I did (walk very slowly into the cutscene) then Tommy is really far away from him and it's pretty easy to hit him.

Obviously going up the elevator to the right is easier because you're closer to where you need to jump off.

And this also means that there's a bit more set up time, but I think overal it should be a bit faster than normal strats
