Posting to confirm Yajijy's statement - as sad as it is. :( I am definitely going to ESA eitherway, I hope the race doesn't fall with this rather unconventient issue.

After talking to the other Limbo runners and after getting a second, rather casual, sub42 myself, we would like to decrease the estimate from 50 minutes to 45. Even at a sleepless marathon with plenty of mistakes for runners of our skill, this estimate should be realistic.

----[new infos made me remove this part of the post to get back to it if it becomes relevant]----

Hello everybody,

in case you want to talk about speedruns of the game/optimizations/new skips (you wish!) or just the game and its mechanics in general, we have created a very late Discord server for that.

Feel free to join!

So, as much as my schedule allowed it, I've been looking into optimizing my runs. As seen from my profile, I pb'd in Limbo any% both Normal and Hard Route since after the first round cuts. :) I will however, not lower their estimates, as these are realistic for runs that go horribly, horribly wrong and that's what you have to expect during a Marathon. :D

Here is the one change I'd like to make:

I want to lower my estimate for LIMBO hard route segment blindfolded from 25 to 20 minutes

(Messed up the timer in this most recent pb.)

This estimate is still pretty generous as all of my past runs were a solid sub15 but there's still a lot that can go wrong in a marathon run, especially in a blindfolded one. I am confident, however, the run won't take any longer.

As for 140, while my no reset practice runs all were sub18 for the past days, 20min still seems like a reasonable estimate, since stuff can go way too wrong during a marathon. On a side note I want to mention that 140 will be getting a console release this summer which may bring new runners into business! As such, it would be amazing to show this game during a marathon in summer. :)

This might be stupid questions, but I want to go super safe here:

For one of my games, my pb is alread extremely optimized and I don't intent on improving it. Is holding the WR enough indication for you to be good at this game or would you like to see me run it again for evaluation purposes?

Also, the blindfolded category I submitted doesn't have its own leaderboard here, of course, since it's more of a bonus category than anything official. I update my progress on my Twitch channel, which is also linked on my speedrun.com profile. Is that enough for having the information available?

Hello, I have a question: I'd like to submit one part of the run blindfolded, preferred as an isolated extra run. Should I add this time to the estimate of the whole run or submit it as an extra category, even though this category doesn't exist as is in the community?

Hello fellow runners! As you might or might not have heard, the European Speedster Assembly is taking place this year from July 25th through July 31st. If you don't know what ESA is yet, it's pretty much a Games Done Quick event for European speedrunners and it's taking place in Sweden. You don't have to go there for the full week, if you come. Anyway, I was thinking, it would be ¤awesome¤ to have a LIMBO speedrun going on there. :) Since we have quite a few European (esp. French) runners around, I was curious whether one or the other might be interested in submitting their LIMBO run to ESA. I know I will, even though I am not the best LIMBO runner, but I'd like this game to be ran at a charity event. The problem with LIMBO speedruns is that watching them is not as intensive as running them yourself. To simulate this race against the clock, I thought the coolest thing would be, if an actual LIMBO race would be possible during ESA! But that for we'll need more runners. So, the question is: Would anyone besides me be interested in submitting LIMBO (Normal or Hard Route, maybe 9 eggs) to ESA? I think, a live LIMBO race would be a blast and I'm sure this whole event can be one. :)

I hope to hear some feedback by you lots! If your time isn't that great yet, don't worry, the ESA lets you improve before they finally accept or decline you.

Edit: I just realized, I haven't linked the official category in this forums. It's here: http://www.speedrun.com/esa2016/forum

Imprtant though: Gates for submissions open February 13th and close the 27th, so you only have two weeks to submit your game(s)! You can still get rejected/back out later, but not come in at a later date. Be sure not to miss those two weeks submitting your LIMBO runs!

Buck Norris confirmed. He is the most serious threat for France right now. :D

I could imagine using the "detailed timer" for this autosplitter feature and have one for manual splits, to have a comparison. Would that be possible?

I'd also like to complement Buckeye for staying on Mélé's toes. :) His pbs also rocket through the roof lately!

The Wiki was supposed to be the place where all the tricks can be found, but it's hard finding videos for everything let alone record one of everything. :(

Hey Raining, just letting you know, I'd absolutely be interested to participate again. :) It was really fun an challenging, though I had no chance against the french. :D Would be cool to have Stefan and Buckeye with on board!

Good job Baruch! :)

I haven't tried it as of yet, but I have a few suggestions:

Pauses are great, but in my opinion shouldn't be included. For the sake of simplicity I'd say from now on we continue to use the "press start" as the start of the timer; you'd have to retime all existing runs otherwise. :/ I don't know if pause buffering is used by anybody in a run anywhere but if one would choose to do so, the timer shouldn't stop during the menu but continue.

It's cool that you included these functions, but overall I wouldn't consider it in an RTA run. Not sure what others think of it though.

Mélé is the new Celulith confirmed! PogChamp I'm sure, he'll sub37 hard route very soon. If he won't, I will. :P

I think your tutorials are pretty good, raining! :) Nice with button inputs. You can add them to the pages if you want.

I try to bring some order to the articles. I made a routing for the hard route part (my way, includes counting the jumps). I think, general routings shouldn't go too much into detail (compare to the routings at zeldaspeedruns.com, which are written very simple) and if a more complex skip is needed, that one should be mentioned in the routing and can be linked to its main article on the wiki, e.g. tire skip or bear trap skip, articles which already exist.

They can also link to sub categories, e.g. brain slugs should all be added into the brain slug article, if one has a special setup, the routing can link to the sub heading of that article. I really like how the wiki is currently growing and flourishing. :) I hope it will continue to until new runners can use it as a source of optimization!

Alright, I just decided to "screw that" and start it. http://limbospeedruns.wikia.com/wiki/LIMBO_Speedrunning_Wikia Tell me your Wikia accounts, register, if you must, and I'll make you able to edit and create pages. We need help of all the people here.

That's an interesting point you make, as I am actually one who currently prefers hard over normal route since I am way more consistent there. However, I think, while you can't objectively say which route is "harder" than the other, it appears to me, that it was the intention of the developer to make this alternate route a challenging and hard part of the game. Also, the important bit is not about which route is harder but that runners understand which route is referred to and I think, nobody as of yet mixed the routes up because they think, the hard route is actually easier.

I looked into creating wikis, it doesn't seem to hard and wikia e.g. is very popular and apparently free. I have zero experience in it, though. Which pages would we actually need? One article should cover "basic strats", like optimized jumping and good usage of momentum, then another - or just a category with many articles - should go into specifics, explaining fast moves for certain scenes and maybe differentiate between save but slower and faster but riskier strats to have stuff for beginners and advanced runners. Then, of course, different routes/categories should have their own page; but since many scenes of the different categories overlap, they wouldn't need everything again; maybe articles for certain scenes can be labeled "used in category: (x) Normal Route (x) Hard Route ( ) 9 Eggs" in their upper right corner or something similar.

Other pages might include "bounty", where we seek consistent strats for certain parts (like the Colette skip or my accidental tree, two times :D ) or even unfound but suspected skips. This page is not important though.

Then, very important, is a page with a list of swag. This is absolutely essential.

Maybe a category for runners could be available, but I'm not sure if everybody would want that/every runner page would hold up to a certain standard. :D

Monthly sounds a bit often to me, the "magic" could fade away from it very quick. Maybe have certain differences every race, e.g. do a hard route race once (:D) 9 eggs, LIMBO BINGO (where you have to complete certain tasks with the permission of loading checkpoints), or even True 100%. But otherwise: Yeah, it was great fun, even my run sucked bad. Thanks again for organizing, Raining! :)
