I would like to request a SUPERHOT series, as SUPERHOT VR has been released and is different enough of a game to need its own leaderboards. Additionally, I'd like to request that SUPERHOT VR get its own page, even though there aren't any runs yet. It would be helpful to set up the page (as the moderator of SUPERHOT) to make it easy for VR runners to submit times, but I do not have Oculus gear, so I cannot run it myself.
SUPERHOT VR has been released, and it's a very different game from the regular SUPERHOT. As this is the case, it will be getting its own Speedrun.com page for runs of it (thoguh I cannot vouch for categories or the experience, as I do not own an Oculus Rift or Touch. I will submit the page to be created, and if you own the game and hardware and would like to moderate it, let me know in this thread.
@GravelordDorito the VR game is different enough that it's going to get its own page once a run exists. I'm going to make a thread about that right now, to clear things up. Thank you for your efforts, though =)
Skips and tricks can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Azn5OwPjK2YiDJdpQgU1CajHVePgdjjpSIqj3LPv7kI/edit?usp=drive_web
If you have any trouble with them, or find any new ones, then this thread is the place to talk about it.
If you're here, you're probably interested in speedruns of this game.
Doing them is pretty easy - just use VisualBoyAdvance or a physical cartridge in a GBA, DS/Lite, or Game Boy Player. Every run requires a video, so make sure you have a way to capture your runs.
As far as strats, this game is all about knowing what to do next without the game's dialogue, and having a feel for the movement. My suggestion (as current WR holder) is to play the game casually and learn the various mechanics, then try to go fast without a timer. After doing so 1 or 2 times, you're ready to start doing worthwhile runs. (This is just a suggestion! Feel free to submit any runs, no matter what the final time.)
Got any questions about this forum, page, or the game? Feel free to ask here, or make a new thread in our forums.
I was going to post in the forums and be all "hey, my game is taking a while..." but if it's just one guy, that's understandable. Good on you, kirkq, for somehow managing to comb through these in the first place - sounds like a daunting task.
I got three images that I think are nice. I like the red tint one the most, how about you guys?
Sounds like a good idea, and I'd be totally down with using something from the sequences in Core.
@Both of these posts: yeah, you're right, fuck it
meaning I deleted Beta and did not add Endless
Speedrun.com has an option for sorting in reverse, with longest time winning. There's no reason /not/ to have an Endless Mode category; is anyone opposed?
It's all good, I just removed the "NG" from the standard Any%, as I think people might see it and think it's some /other/ thing that isn't literally just the game as-is. That change is mostly to be friendly to people who are new to SUPERHOT, as we all know the game makes no reference to NG+ anyway.
I just noted the need for a blank file in the rules for All Secrets.
I see All Secrets as a 100% run of the story, which would then prompt the use of a blank file. The NG+ skips would save time, but I think the distinction between Any%, NG+, and All Secrets balances out well.
I don't actually know if you can hotswitch before then. Hm.
The rules are good, though, let's keep your revisions =)
@loxu - Or if you're speedrunning it, it'd sound more like "SUMOD, SUMOD"
@Bullets - I don't use Discord (at all, not just with SUPERHOT) so I didn't remember it existed. I'll make a new post and sticky it. ^-^
I did notice the logo change when it happened, and I like the new BG picture a lot more! I wasn't saying you /shouldn't/ be a super mod, but hey, it works just as well either way. (Also, I know you won't delete everything, I was just joking. I totally trust you as a mod in every way.)
So I went in and added Ellieceraptor as a mod for this game's page/forums/everything. That was all great, nothing wrong there. I did, however, accidentally click the Super Mod checkbox on Vytheros, and as I am not a Full Mod of the site, I couldn't undo it once it was checked. This is nothing inherently bad, as Vytheros is someone who I trust and who cares about this game's success in speedrunning, but it just wasn't something I intended to do.
So hey, new mod, congratulations! (And Vytheros, don't remove anything xD)
I definitely think NG+ should include this skip. I'll verify both of your runs after posting this (even though you could just as easily, Vytheros), and I'll add an abridged version to its rules.
To be honest, I would second for Ellieceraptor. Nobody's promoted yet, but she seems like a good choice to me.
