First of all, congratulations to Nilly896 for discovering the holy grail of mini-game manipulation. This really opens up the possibilities of determining the speedrunning limits of these games in ways that RNG will simply not allow for.

However...in reading how this was done through the use of save files, it occurs to me that this method is impossible without the use of mods or emulation.

While I certainly don't want to keep these records off the boards, shouldn't they at least be noted as having been run under emulation? I tried using the filters, but does not seem to have exempted these records.

Nine strikes and two gutters, lots of people can do that, and then you'll quickly be forced into microseconds. Doesn't seem worth it unless it will somehow bring lots of new players into the game.

I would think that placement is not relevent for a single race run.

Edit: On my record run for the 3D0 on Pacific Highway I finished in 12th, so it definitely does not matter.

I don't understand the rules of any of the Bowling categories.

I can't imagine that the best speedrunning bowlers will need more than a second to line up a shot for a strike. It certainly doesn't take that long in Wii Resort. But I guess time will tell.

Yeah, a fast game is just strikes with gutters in the 10th, so not a huge difference worthy of a separate category.

Highly disagree. This speedrun absolutely depends on skill, as the greatest RNG possible will not help if you choke the execution.

For that matter, why is there a restriction against single player using multiple controllers for the regular Bridge Builders run to begin with? If there's no requirement for footage of the players playing the game, then there is no way that a mod can definitively say that other people are NOT involved in the gameplay, so seems to me it would be easier to just allow for multiple controller use.

I don't see this in the submissions. Could you try submitting your run again?

There's an already existing category in Wii Sports Club CE called "speedbowling" covering the three different bowling events. Since the exact same sports exist, can we carry over that CE for Wii Sports Resort?

From June 1st, YouTube will apparently claim the right to put advertising in all of the videos on their platform, regardless of whether the creator has enabled advertising on them. Will this effect the integrity of speedrunning submissions? I imagine it will be harder to validate a submitted time with advertisements popping up in the middle of a run.

I think they at least need to be removed from the Submit Run page. They block the entry fields and a pain to deal with. Why punish the very people providing content to your site?

Additionally, I don't think there would be much clickthru on page where people just want to submit information and move on, so it's just bringing your overall clickthru rate down.

I don't think there's very much demand for that. I certainly wouldn't want to run it. But if somebody else wants it, I wouldn't object strongly to having it.

Not sure what you're talking about. All of those modes are already available and have records.

Easiest way to get started is to point a video camera at your TV while you are playing. Advanced techniques involve buying additional hardware, such as a capture card that records the game play directly from the Wii U, or a cable that connects your video signal to your computer's USB port to allow you to record gameplay on your computer. Further followups on that should go on the "Streaming / Recording / Equipment" forum.

I'm thinking of installing this (it's such a beast that I'll have to delete some things from my SD to make it fit...), but I see there are currently no bowling categories to run. Can we add some?

Wonder what changed from "I'm not convinced that IGT is really the best timing method for a full-game category and there isn´t really any urgent necessity to make changes now.", as there weren't any NEW arguments made since that was posted.

My apologies to @kyletx500 for my recent posts and their insinuations, which I will leave stand as a permanent record of my immaturity. Regardless of my opinions on the purity of speedrunning, it was wrong of me to make things personal, to make him and others here feel uncomfortable, and to interfere with the primary objective of this site: having fun.

The community has spoken, and I have had my say, so this is truly my final post on the subject.

I hope the changes will serve to increase the popularity of Road Rash, and I hope those people will also start to run the level runs. 10+ minute world records are unacceptable...

Wasn't hard to find at all; that's your most recent Twitch stream! Surely that wasn't your first time messing up a speedrun under pressure doing the mundane parts of it? I've also done it, and I imagine pretty much everyone else here has as well. That's part of speedrunning...or at least, it used to be.

Yes, I was a fan, until you decided to use your clout to redefine game speedrunning as a series of individual runs to suit your own personal needs.
