I'm against the idea, but willing to hear out other opinions. I quite liked the concept of just ejecting the sword before 7-1 and having it be all over with. It is called powerless for a reason.
If there was some sort of function in the remaster where it had an ingame time next to each level in the inventory saying how long you spent (like Banjo-Kazooie) then sure I'd play around with it, but since it'd be RTA timed I wouldn't compete myself. 120% is fairly short for a 100% spyro category and I'm fine just seeing a best segment and knowing I did well. They tried implementing a similar idea in Crash 2 IL leaderboard but it didn't take off and it turned out to be more effort that it was worth. If you'd like to do it yourself, there's nothing stopping you, but I would be shocked if it was added to speedrun.com considering IL flight times are already present.
Even if it was faster (which it is not), it wouldn't be a category. 14 Talisman exists to be the fastest non gulp skip category.
A huge thanks to @Jonnybegood1213 for solving this year old debate. You are truly a prized member of the community.
I vote for leaving the board as is and adding all new non-serious categories to the extensions, beginning (I think) with all worlds any%. Leave No Secret Exits, Cannonless etc on misc
Remind me why there's an extensions page for this game?
But this is why Misc Categories are a thing on speedrun.com ??
Any%: Don't collect any OCD blueprints in The Dump. Only REL, RS, and MM are built now. Skips collecting, assembling, and using the Octopus Climbing Device.
All Gadgets/100%: Skip climbing the wall. Shoot both pairs of pants from the OCD skip fence with the binoculars, and stand under the beehive and shoot with an egg Skips some backtracks and climbing the wall.
Press up twice very fast in a row, that's it.
Good video, good demonstration, but it's not a good idea to assume it's the first time it's been discovered.
It never happened to me. I had to run in '95 compatibility mode and i choose hardware acceleration on bootup. That's when I get the resolution changes, but never during the run.
I did my runs in fullscreen. It hogged my inputs so I couldn't even use livesplit. I set a delay on my timer, opened the game, and ran it without the ability to tab off or split or anything. My setup is like a 1/10 but at least it's working. I also can't set enter or escape to a controller, so I lose a bunch of time reaching for my keyboard at the end of levels or at dialogue.
Community leaderboards are influenced by overall interest in a category. If you run this and can prove why it makes a good category, have at it.
If anybody runs 100%, don't cut out arbitrary things like those 6 encounters please ty
