so i speedrun this game on a touchscreen and my 70 star time is 1:01:33 which is the best recorded time i have seen. the problem is that since there is no touchscreen category i have no idea if that time is the world record. so i basically just want a mobile category because i think it sounds cool

Correct me if I’m wrong but mobile emulation is not allowed. It’s basically very inaccurate.

Emulator runs have to be done on Project 64 1.6, or using Mupen. I assume the touchscreen is emulator on a mobile device or some other arbitrary way.

The control scheme isn’t the issue, so long as you do not change the controller layout during the run (i.e swapping A for B or vice versa).

I don’t understand the “touchscreen category”, feel like this would just fall under emulator.

UYou can use whatever you want as a controller (i.e. n64 controller, gamecube controller, guitar hero controller, electronic drum set, etc.), but I'm pretty sure if you're playing on emulator, then you would submit under the standard emulator category. Using a touchscreen controller layout would make no difference on the platform you're playing on.

You can also use a fucking drum as a controller if you want, but it's still an easy emulator.

This is a good idea, Honestly this makes sm64 so much populated that many new speedrunners will come from conturies that don't even play this game!

Edit:Many player tend to speedrun games they like, but they don't have the consoles. So this make so many new runners.

Imo what you said is pretty true atleast in my opinion. There is infact existing competition aswell
