Bots on src

As you've probably noticed, there isn't any day without a bot on src. Everyday there'll be some thread completely irrelevant to the section of a forum. Sure, the bots deletion thread exists and the bots are almost usually banned after such a report. But don't you think it just isn't enough to stop the bots? They keep coming back. I don't really know what the requirements are at signing up at src, but perhaps some Captcha verification should be implemented while signing up? Like it should be mandatory for everyone. And speaking of the bans, wouldn't the IP bans be more effective than just banning the account? I know an IP address could be changed, but at least that would lower the chances of the bots coming back. Just slightly, but perhaps that'd be a better idea than just the account bans.

Every website on the planet gets spammed to hell by bots. There's definitely a couple things they could do to make it harder and they should do those things, but either way this is going to be an ongoing issue literally forever, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.

IP bans sound great on paper but are basically useless in real life. It is extremely easy to get a new IP if you know anything about computer networks, and VPNs are a thing.

but you don't see them all the time

That's really just because other websites tend to inherently bury low-quality posts with algorithms. It's just more obvious when it happens here. Also doesn't help that there's relatively little real forum activity, so the bot spam is a much higher proportion than it would be on a more active platform.

As I said I definitely agree that there's a couple extra measures that they can/should put in place, I just think people should manage their expectations. Fighting bots is an eternal arms race, always has been, always will be, so even if they do bump up verification don't expect the problem to just go away.
