New Feature Liking a Run / Thumbs Up

Norway

Hi,

Small feature which I think would be kinda cool. Liking a run, very similar to liking a forum post. Not on the leaderboards itself of course, but after clicking on a run. Example:

'Submitted by X' 'Verified by Y' 'Liked by n players'

Cheers :)

I think that this has been discussed before, and I believe that it was decided that people could just tell the runner on Twitch or somewhere that they liked their run. Meanwhile, site coders/staff could focus more on things that might take preference or be more necessary to the site. cough cough message system cough cough

Its been brought up before and I think the consensus was "who cares?"

Edit: that reads a bit more rude than intended. Basically the site devs waste time on a feature that is useless instead of other more important things.

I agree that there are more important and impactful features under development.

Doesn't mean a like button isn't a good idea. Just means it's a low priority idea.

I love the idea of positivity through likes.

Eh, I rarely pull my runs back up on SRC, and if I did, seeing some facebook likes next to my vid wouldn't do shit for me, but whatever makes ya feel better

The practical result of this will be that the only runs that get a substantial number of likes are the WR runs, which will reinforce the idea in the minds of many that their runs aren't worth anything if they're not WR.

I think this would actually have a net negative impact on the community.

I must agree with JayJane4 and Drakodan and many things others have said. I must add though, the runs are connected to sites that already have that stuff. For example, most runs are from YouTube, which already has a like button. So adding one to speedrun.com wouldn't make much sense. I still don't see why not though!

I think a like button for runs would be harmless, unlike a comments system tied to runs.
