Elsinore Exeunt All

Exeunt All is one of the more difficult endings to get and renders your save basically unplayable once it's done. That makes it especially juicy for speedrunning. I have a few runs recorded for this new category, and will submit them as soon as I have the bandwidth for it.

General Notes

  • Approach objects before interacting with them. Otherwise, Ophelia will approach them herself, and she’ll do it as slowly as she can
  • When some conversations start, Ophelia will move towards her "mark" in the scene. Get familiar with your marks and make sure she’s standing as close to them as possible before triggering the conversation
  • Selecting your destination through the map is generally faster than manually navigating Ophelia (exception made for segments where fast forward is not available).
  • Everytime you wake up at the start of a loop, Polonius will be waiting outside with a conversation. Don’t select a destination before speaking to him: he’ll interrupt your pathing and you’ll have to go through the map all over again, wasting precious time.
  • Whenever game credits start, exit the game then restart it. Don’t exit until you hear the first note of the credits song, or the ending might not be validated.

Loop 1: ASSASSIN

  • Head straight to Gertrude and speak to her
  • Exit the Throne Room
  • Do not under any circumstance switch to another tab while the intro cutscene is playing, because the audio track needs to finish playing to transition into gameplay. While you’re tabbed out, the audio pauses.
  • After waking up exit your room and speak to Polonius
  • Go to the Gallery and view the Queen Astrid portrait
  • Talk to the town guard north of the Grounds
  • To pass time rapidly, listen to conversations as they appear on the map until 3PM
  • After the play, head to the Chapel and hide at the back of benches
  • Head to bed
  • After learning some tragic news, check Gertrude’s bedroom door
  • Ask Brit about locked bedroom
  • Tell Hamlet to meet with Brit
  • Wait until 9:30 near the door north of the chapel

Loop 2: THE GHOST

  • Speak to Polonius outside your room
  • Get key from the planter on the Landing
  • Read Gertrude's diary in her room
  • Wait for Quince to initiate conversation on the Grounds
  • Thursday 10PM, see guards play cards in the Barracks
  • Speak to Brit in the Gallery immediately after

  • Ask Gertrude about Lady Brockenhuus
  • Ask Horatio about Lady Brockenhuus
  • See Hamlet's appointment with Bernardo (7AM)
  • Tell Hamlet about “the Affair”
  • Read the notes in the Gallery
  • After an automatic conversation with Polonius, head to the Graveyard and wait for an event

Loop 3: FORTINBRAS

  • Speak to Polonius outside your room
  • Get cloth from Ophelia’s dresser
  • Get eggs and charcoal from the Kitchen

  • See Polonius at the Graveyard at 8PM
  • Ask Polonius about Astrid once he stands up

General Notes on Exeunt All

I have so far tried to obscure spoilers, but for the following section, this will be basically impossible.

  • The meeting triggers described below only apply if you don’t get caught/don’t leave witnesses
  • Ophelia can be physically overpowered by armed assailants. These include: Bernardo, Marcellus, Laertes, Brit, Claudius, Hamlet, and (if she witnesses you exiting Gertrude only) Irma. Her only chance against an armed character is to use the benefit of surprise. Never exit a character in the presence of an armed assailant, or you will instantly Game Over (exception made for Irma who will not attack so long as you don’t exit Gertrude in front of her.)
  • Gertrude will snitch on you if she sees anything. Horatio will only snitch if you exit Hamlet in front of him.

Guide

  • Restart the game
  • From main menu, “Return to Elsinore”
  • At 7AM Friday, Quince will spawn to give you Exeunt All
    • Reset loop
  • Claudius is one of the hardest characters to “exit”, so do it while suspicions are still low. Wait for Claudius to be alone in the Throne Room
  • Use the dialogue “Exeunt All  ”
    • Meeting 1: triggered by 1 Exit
  • Pick up the bedroom key on the landing
  • Wait for Bernardo on the Landing at 10AM, “exit” them there
  • In Gertrude's room, exit Brit first
  • Then Irma
  • Then Gertrude
    • Meeting 2: triggered by 4 Exits
  • Wait for everyone to leave the Throne Room but Hamlet
  • Exit Hamlet
  • Wait for Marcellus to come back
  • Exit Marcellus
  • Go outside, exit Laertes. Don’t worry about Polonius.
    • Meeting 3: triggered by 3 Exits
  • Exeunt Horatio, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern (Ignore Polonius)
  • Fast forward til Quince tells you “That was the last *****  ”
    • When you reach the credits, TIME.
