Part categories

Hi guys! I thought of something that could be a nice hybrid (both in length and in difficulty) between running individual levels and running the whole game (which, let's face it, is long!) My suggestion is the following: split the game in "part" categories, which would end when we get the eponymous part: Urgon's Part:

  • Canyonlands
  • Babylon
  • Tian Shan River
  • Shambala Sanctuary Taklit's Part:
  • Palawan Lagoon
  • Palawan Volcano
  • Palawan Temple Azerim's Part:
  • Jeep Trek
  • Teotihuacan
  • Olmec Valley Nub's Part:
  • V.I. Pudovkin
  • Meroe
  • King Sol's Mines
  • Nub's Tomb Infernal Machine:
  • Infernal Machine
  • Aetherium (Could also include Return to Peru but doesn't have to since it doesn't really fit in the storyline)

What do you think? I already did a tryout of Urgon's Part in my May 9th stream on Twitch (with countless quicksaves reloads though!):

Cheers!

Personally not a fan of this kind of part game runs, but they also exist for some longer GTAs and other games too. So I guess I can make these categories and put them into Misc Categories. For the parts after urgons part there is the question with what starting conditions they should be since you can pick up ammo and medpacks from the levels before. But I think it doesn´t really matter too much.

Edit: I made the categories and added your run there. Additional rule is that you can start at any starting condition that is legitimately possible in the parts after Urgon's part (avoiding cheating in levels before to get ammo etc. to not start with bazooka or something.. ). Return to Peru is not necessary and in Taklit's part you are not allowed to skip getting the part, otherwise the category wouldn´t make any sense!

Do not mash the chalk button - hold it instead, right after the rolling animation starts until the drawing animation plays. :)

Would it be faster to just run through the hole in the red (3rd in this run) candle chapel door rather than open it ? This doesn't make use of those high framerate anomalies since I was able to perform this way back around 2000.

Just tested it, it indeed works. The time save is around 5 seconds.
