I noticed after the Nov 17th patch (I’m on Xbox) that piglins hardly ever drop pearls anymore, I checked the notes and it says “Piglins now offer similar bartering items as they do in Java Edition”. I’ve had several runs when the piglins go through 60 gold and seems lucky if you get 3 pearls. I get about 10 bottles of water instead.

I can’t even beat my own time of 12 mins now never mind get closer to anyone at the top. I’m new to all this so what do people do when this happens, just wait for the next update and hope they change it? Or am I just being really unlucky with the drops 😂

Unfortunately they have been nerfed and console is the only version that you cannot play previous updates easily at all. RIP Piglin Batering 😔✊

That really sucks. I’m guessing other methods of getting them is too slow compared to the old way so there’s not much point of running on Xbox or PS anymore. After I just started 😂

I’m guessing it depends on what category you are running. Of course there are different routes to go down, I guess killing ender men will be the main path now. I’ve only run set seed though and people were doing the whole game in about 5 minutes so it’s not realistic to beat that now (not that I ever was anyway)

It take a a lot more time to run seedless (random seed I meant) , especially as most runs will take like an hour when your starting out. Thanks for the advice though

ssg is most definitely dead for mobile as the pearl trades are just too rng to be feasible. As Asdapath said tho, the warped forest runs are still possible for mobile (not console that's so optimized, but I could be wrong). I am sad that I can't run ssg anymore especially after putting in so much time, but there's always other categories like obtain item and kill bosses. Also, I 100% DO NOT recommend trying to downgrade through an online api cuz that'll most definitely have a virus so yeah, just putting that out there.

Whilst I agree a sub 30 is still possible on 1.16.100 the chances of getting a sub 30 run have been halved compared to the previous version. Just means more grind and even less completable runs. not appealing to new runners.

I guess the top % of lads who speedrun every day will continue to do so and they’ll prob still get new better time’s but yes, 1 in 50 runs being viable now is not appealing for SSG (especially if PC bedrock can stay on the old version which I think they can?)

I know it’s just one of those things but just find it annoying after getting into it the last few weeks. How often are these kind of things changed, is it likely to change in a month or is this it now for another year?

@lagissad i have been playing on mobile on versions lower than 1.16 for a while now and i havent got a virus so anyone who wants to downgrade on android just download an apk

Lol @AmIaJokeToYou and @Flexo88. I haven't tried to downgrade because I'm picky about my device security. I just wanted to put that out there cuz I know there's probably some young kids on these forums, and I don't want them to brick their only device. I know that it's easier to downgrade on android than IOS, but that stuff is always a bit sketchy. Also, no need to flex @wemakethunder okay?

Sadly people on console cant downgrade, however people on pc and mobile can... android+pc is easy but ios is a bit more difficult

So umm I did some expirements and I found one piglin gave me 5 eyes in 2 stacks and 8 eyes in one stack so I’m on mobile so chances are if you most likely want a run you need a stack once I get the time I will do the same on Xbox to find a kind of average although I feel like this post won’t matter. Sorry if it doesn’t.

On ssg, one option is to bridge over to the blaze spawner which I did in my 7:34 run. The only problem is that it's still likely that there won't be enough pearls when you come back anyway. So like Asdapath said, They'll most definitely be slower unless you have really lucky rng.

Asdapath, I know what your saying but I’ve had several dozen attempts now and not once have I got double digit pearls. I’ve tried dropping 4 stacks on them to test it out and they only dropped 9. Seems like there are some huge odds to actually get a 13+ amount. Never mind the time it takes them to trade etc.

I know grinding out runs is part of it but when 99/100 are doomed cos of RNG and not your own fault it’s not really much fun

I also updated by accident as I am only able to play Xbox on weekends and therefore was not able o get there in time to turn off the setting. I feel like speedruns aren't s much fun anymore with this update. It feels more like a downgrade really than it does an upgrade. The game runs slower and lot less smooth, the dragon is laggy as crap, worlds take an even longer time to load up, pearls obviously are rare, fortresses seem more rare again, and blaze will melee attack you more and do a good amount of damage to someone with no armor or a shield. My main worry is that this update will just feel like another 1.14.60 I hated that update. I started speedrunning in that update. Runs were often hours long! The trading strats were painful and you could trade 5 times per restock and they restocked twice a day! TWICE A DAY! That is 10 trades a day! Can you see what I am afraid of now? I don't want to not enjoy speedrunning. I can never seem to strike luck with this system
