FrogExp intricacies?

Hello, everyone. As of last night I've started learning the route for this game. This is my first post on this site, but seeing as I've spent a good few hours experimenting with this I feel my question is warranted: How EXACTLY does FrogExp need to be executed? I have states saved before entering the train and on the last line of dialogue with Neville. I figured out the "make or break point" (at least for me) is right after exiting the conversation with Neville. After that, I go up to the middle of the window, and then down and left while mashing A.

It seems like there's a specific spot in the left seat you have to hit "A" at in order to get your sprite to flash (this is usually accompanied by the door sound, but you only seem to need the flash in order to get the Frog of Doom to appear instead of the troll; I've sometimes had the Frog appear with the flash but without the door sound).

Most of the time, I can't get this movement right (about 9/10 times), which isn't too promising considering it would take about 10 minutes per attempt in a run (8 at WR pace). I can't figure out what causes the all-important sprite flash, and was wondering if the experienced players here might be able to help me out. Thanks!

(If it's of any significance, upon entering the train I go right to the Folio Triplicus and get the levelup, then very slowly hit A until the sprites go black and then 3 more times, for 5-6 total. I then walk up to Neville and make sure his dialogue box pops up before any others, still making sure there's plenty of space between each A press. The last line of his dialogue after doing all this is where my second state is saved.)

the only things that i can suggest is to try until you get 3 or 4 times in a row. your path is good (as you write), but i can't really help you because is a things a bit random. sometimes works, sometimes not, there is not a real 'trick' to do it right. sorry

ps. i answare you on yt but it's the same answare, kinda.

Okay. Thanks for answering. I guess I'll just keep at it and see what I find out.

After most test of it, I think after the last Neville's dialogue you need to go until half position of the first grey square you reach if you only press "up" compared to your position - if you talk to Neville at the second yellow square (from bottom of them). Press A 2 times in a row, not only one time cuz' whatever you're doing after that, you will be teleport to Forbidden Forest. So press A 2 times and go to the left after pressing "left" 2 times (maybe 1 works but Harry seems to contrary me when I try).Talk 4 times with "FrogMen" and you will make work the TrainSkip, after that reach the Lake and find any fight and, normaly, you'll got the Frog of Doom

PS: Sorry for my bad english i try to write myself and use google traduction for correction, it seems to be good but if it's not, and thanks to gand988 for the help for picture.

if you have Google Drive upload them there and share the link here.

I've saw your setup and is interesting.

Do you know how the D.Warp works? cause sometimes when i practice for the DW into bring Norbert to the 7th floor, i save like the WR did and i make the same things and... it's doesn't work once time on three or four attempts. The game softlock in fight (when it doesn't work). I was thinking about input after/before the DW, or maybe a last fight (but sometimes it works so i don't think it's due to a fight in that case), so for input, i did the same twice and sometimes it works for both attempts, sometimes only one time, sometimes it doesn't work at all

United States

The DW isn't a guarantee at all, it is a hit or miss, from the S&Q. Now if for say you get the first one, from the S&Q, or if you are able to get killed (somehow, especially since dying in battle is insanely hard in Frog%) and don't hit any encounters all the way through forest, then you will not have to S&Q again to get the DW, because it stores the last outcome of whatever you got. The DW attempt from the S&Q is a special case in the fact that there isn't any previous outcome to look at, so it looks up a fight that never existed in the first place and works from there. I am still not quite sure if there is going to ever be a time where we will get the S&Q DW 100% of the time.

"because it stores the last outcome of whatever you got" so DW takes the last encounters or dying in fight (from S&Q) whatever the encounters ? Cause, from S&Q, it works due to "looks up a fight that never existed in the first place and works from there" so if the game gives - for the "fight that never existed" - or generates - a fight where it's a loose (smth like this) the DW will works, but it's RNG?

I think i understand a little bit but to be garanteed -> the S&Q-DW is random for the Norbert's Part of Any% but if you fulfil the things you mentioned before, it will works 100% for the noS&Q-DW (due to the fact that there's no need to S&Q)?

And, do you know properties when you press "Start" and "Equip Menu" and back to the game? Cause it's useful for Troll Skip, Filch but with Quirrel the game softlock -> depends on the last encounters? last result of fight?

United States

Yes, when do an S&Q, the DW isn't a guarantee. If you get that one and never hit another encounter then the DW will still occur. Troll Skip deals with the last fight being a victory, as long as it is not from a duped victory (this is a thing to worry about in No Frog%). Filch, as far as I know, doesn't have anything to do with that. Quirrel, I honestly have no idea.

It's normal than sometimes i have a RED screen (where i can continue to move, speak with everyone etc. but just can't see where i go) inside the train (during the Train Skip with the girl - when i try to manipulate her dialogues before the softlock) and if i use start menu and quit it (or equip menu i don't remember), all train is turn to "night mod" and everything like Lake Monster etc. ?

-> when i make the same movement (and i think you can optimize them), often i have the softlock and sometimes i got a Red screen, did you get this situation too? Have we got a reason dues to it?

-> and it happens only one time, when i don't record it and i try to repeat it again with a record, but i 100% sure one time, when i try to get this red screen, i got the soflock but just during the transition between the softlock (dialogue) and the previous dialogue, there's the door's sound (like the sound for the FrogExp) but with the girl and not the "windowed-boy", normal too?

( sorry for asking so much questions (ô~ô) )

I have gotten the red screen before, the only thing that I remember doing on them was pressing A too many times by accident. Other than that, I honestly do not know. This game is broken to the point that I don't have any explanation for certain things. And don't worry about all the questions, I am okay with them.

I'm wondering something. Why did we use Gregory the Smarmy Deck ? Cuz FrogExp works only with it or DW/SW? Or for something else? Cuz actualy we can use the FrogExp with every deck, so i was wondering why Gregory the Smarmy is the deck we want. I have other theories but not sure at all.

And about the TrainSkip: "The Train Skip is the easiest skip in this game. When on the train just use a Card Combo and talk 4 times with the guy in the Up-Right corner. Why does this works? In the train you are suppose to talk with Ron and Hermione, learn Verdimillious Uno and fight against Draco Malfoy but the game only looks for a fight to be done, and with the Card Combo we enter and win a fight, easy." -> from the doc in "Guides" Section.

"but the game only looks for a fight to be done, and with the Card Combo we enter and win a fight, easy." -> but that's the case? cuz you can use the Card Combo BEFORE you enter the train and the TrainSkip still works, but you didn't make any fight inside, and you did win or lose a fight before you'd entered the train (Rats in Grogotts), so what is the rly point that make the Skip works ?

We use the deck we use because at this point it is habit. In the route before that, we got it because it allowed us to use 2 card combos before knight when we are entering the castle. As far as train skip is concerned, that was the hypothesis that we came up with at the time. I don't know if any more research has been done on it since then.

Thanks for the answer. Idk how to get the "ingame value" to see any Harry's changes value when we use card combos.

Cuz i was thinking about the train like the hypothesis was but when i tried to perform the train skip without fighting any encounters in the train, but before i entered in it I saw that's works so i thought the hypothesis was wrong. But when i tried weird stuff about the train i found nothing worth(by using any card combo, before or after i entered in the train, and use manipulation or interaction, but i get nothing, i still continue to try sometimes).
