This is the first Sunshine Islands speedrun making use of RNG manipulation. The RNG is seeded with the system time, so I set the DS clock and count to a particular second before loading the game to get a good starting weather pattern and field layout. From there, I can manipulate the RNG by performing actions such as using tools, shipping items, and timing when I exit certain areas (any area that has villagers/sprites/butterflies is changing RNG over time).

In this run, this is useful for four things: 1) getting ideal weather so I never have to water crops, 2) getting an orange wonderful from the crop festival, 3) getting two sunstones from taking Kirk's boat to Meadow Island and Volcano Island, which each normally have a 5% chance of being found each time you take the boat to the respective island, and 4) manipulating the mine so that I know the floor layouts and how far pitfalls will drop in advance.

There are three parts to the run. The first part includes growing lots of turnips for money and cooking, upgrading the house and getting the kitchen, collecting 8 sunstones to raise Volcano Island, and winning the crop festival to get an orange wonderful. The second part involves mining, mostly for orichalcum to make friendship pendants, but also for some gelatin and gems for gifts and a sunstone from shipping items from the mine. The third part is getting enough sunstones to raise Mystic Islands, mostly by giving gifts to villagers, and raising Elliot's friendship points to red heart very quickly using friendship pendants.

This route is fairly different from my non-RNG manipulation route, which requires water can upgrades and does not include mining and friendship pendants at all, but rather raises Elliot's friendship points slowly over the course of most of Year 1.
