If you want to join our community of Cheat% speedrunners, it's easy. I'll tell you exactly how we do it here. We use a program called Save Wizard that can decrypt our save files, edit them with cheat codes, then re-encrypt them. It's $60 on their website, but if you can't afford it, you can always just join our Discord server and ask one of our runners to mod your file for you. There's a link to Save Wizard's website in the Resources section.

Save Wizard has a large selection of cheat codes available, but it doesn't have some of the super-specific codes that we use in our speedruns. You'll have to add those codes yourself. I will put them in the Guides section, since they are specific to each game. To add custom cheat codes in Save Wizard, right-click where the codes are and you'll see the option for it.

If you want to make up your own code for a custom build, you need to know the code format and how to count in hex. Counting in hex is just like counting in decimal, except there are 16 symbols per digit in hex instead of 10, so counting to 20 in hex looks like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F, 20. 20 in hex is 32 in decimal, so if you want a code that gives you 32 items, you need to type 20.

The code format works like this; if the code starts with a 00, it means that only the last two digits will be affected by the code, and the next 6 digits of the code will tell it where the code is supposed to go, so the code 0000344F 00000057 will go to the byte located at 00344F and change it to 57. Here is a more brief explanation:

A0XXXXXX YYYYYYYY

A: 0 = only the last two Y digits, 1 = only the last four Y digits, 2 = all 8 Y digits. XXXXXX: the address of where you want the code to go. YYYYYYYY: the value you want to change the bytes to.

Or if you want to write a massive amount of the same data, you can save time by doing a multi-write code. It looks like this:

4BXXXXXX YYYYYYYY 4CCCDDDD EEEEEEEE

4: Makes it a multi-write code B: 0 = one byte (last two digits), 1 = two bytes, 2 = four bytes XXXXXX: address YYYYYYYY: code CCC: amount of times to write the code DDDD: how far to move the address each time the code is written EEEEEEEE how much to increase the code's value each time it's written.

Remember to type everything in hexadecimal, not decimal. If it's difficult to convert the value in your head, there's online converters that can do it for you. Happy hacking!

I would like to be a super mod for Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3. https://www.speedrun.com/nun3 There are multiple runners who have runs pending verification, with one who waited about 3 weeks so far. One mod hasn't been on in over 2 years, another hasn't been on in 3 weeks, and another visits a few times a week, but doesn't verify our runs. I tried contacting them, but had no luck. This is my last resort.

Edit: One of the mods signed in just a few hours after I posted this and modded me. That was convenient. 😅

I agree with Felipe_Retrogamer's solution. For the cases in which there wasn't footage of menus, we could give the runners the benefit of the doubt and subtract the same amount of time from their runs because they had no idea that a rule change would happen in the future. If they did, they would have gone through the opening menus as quickly as possible. As for my runs, it's fine if you don't re-time them. I can beat them in one try with a new route I made.

Here's an example of what a run with the new timing method would look like. It's easy and fair for everybody. This run would be 35:07 on the leaderboard.

The start and stop time of all runs will need to be slightly changed to work with the new rules. All runs will be timed by in-game time, which starts when you select New Game (or Load Game, for NG+ categories) and immediately after finishing a run, players must save the game as soon as possible, and the time shown on the save file doesn't include loads, so it will be fair for everyone to make that their official time for the leaderboards. All runs for NG+ will need to have footage of them selecting Load Game, so we can see what the in-game timer was when they loaded it, and subtract that from the in-game timer on the final save after completing a run, to get the in-game time of the run without loads. As for runs that are already on the leaderboard, I suggest one of two things: 1. We re-time them manually by watching the run with a stopwatch handy, pausing every time the game loads. 2. Don't bother changing or deleting them because IGT will always be lower than RTA anyway, so the runners could easily beat their old times.

I've done some stopwatch testing on this and I found out that the in-game timer doesn't include loading screens. This will make an easy solution to the equality problem. Have people save their games after a speedrun and use in-game time as the reference for the leaderboard. I think that's much better than either banning emulators or giving them a huge advantage. For the NG+ categories, we can just take the final time and subtract the time the file had when you loaded it.

Okay, here's the route I used. I'm not sure if this is the absolute best possible route, but It took off 16 minutes as opposed to just doing random stuff.

  1. After gaining control, go to the training grounds. My first split is after the Kakashi fight.
  2. After gaining control again, go into Ichiraku Ramen and talk to Teuchi, NOT AYAME.
  3. Go to the peddler and buy the top 2 items.
  4. Go to Choji, then Hinata.
  5. Pick up the red crystal in the southeast corner of the map.
  6. Pick up the crystal on the well to the north.
  7. Fight Gaara.
  8. Go southeast, close the text box, and fight Sakura.
  9. Go to the forest, training field, and hot springs in that order, fight the characters that spawn there, and DON'T pick up the crystals.
  10. After beating Tenten, walk to the right a bit, close the text box, then go to the memorial stone. I split after the Neji fight.
  11. Talk to Iruka. After gaining control, go between the tall square building and the scroll shop to your left and pick up the crystal.
  12. Pick up the crystal in the corner of the Nindo building near where Hinata was.
  13. Buy a banana from the peddler and give it to Konohamaru. You need to talk to him twice.
  14. Fight Shizune.
  15. Go to the training field and fight Kiba.
  16. Pick up the crystals in this area, walk to the left, then close the text box. I split here.
  17. Fight Gaara.
  18. Go to the hot springs and fight Anko, then pick up the crystal to the right.
  19. Go to the leaf village center and pick up the crystal in the southeast corner. It will be on the edge of that small building, so you need to climb.
  20. Fight Temari.
  21. Walk southeast, close the text box (I split here), then go to Asuma.
  22. Pick up the shogi piece to the east first, grab the crystal next to the well, then grab the crystal by the flower shop in between two pots, then grab the shogi piece in the north and west and return them to Asuma.
  23. Once Asuma has his pieces back, go to the forest and do Kurenai's minigame (I did this out of order in my first run and had to do an extra fast travel because of it), then pick up the crystal behind her.
  24. Go to the training field and train with Guy.
  25. Walk to the left, close the text box, then go to the memorial stone.
  26. Go to the chunin exam stadium.

I just got done routing and planning the UC Any% category. I wanted to have a run out by today, but I haven't yet done one with acceptable quality. I'll probably have one up in about 20 hours or so.

You can use characters that are already max level from your previous playthrough. That's what New Game plus means. It means starting a new game with all of the things you unlocked and earned from your last playthrough still available. Lots of video games have a New Game Plus mode, and they usually work the same way as in this game.

NG+ will make it so that you don't have to unlock or level up the characters during the run. You can do it from a maxed out file.

I would also really like to start running this game, but on the ultimate contest mode. The timer should start on the X input when selecting the mode, and end when Kakashi's health reaches zero. Any% and NG+ would be obvious categories, but I would also love to run 100%, meaning we win the contest, complete all missions, unlock all jutsu (and items needed to perform them), go on both "dates" with every character, and complete all side quests signified by the large green dots on the mini map. Time ends when completing the last of these objectives. Please consider adding this category! :D
