Hyper is the first weapon you pick up in vanilla. I think it increase a bit more damage. As the gatekeeper you couldn't inflict any damage without it and cannot break the block passage either.
In area 5 can be risky with no crusher if you don't have hyper. If the first dungeon in that tunnel in the water is not the real path to the boss, then simply door wrap it to bypass that impassable block below but you have to deathwarp it if the item is not hyper or crusher once you find the real dungeon, if there none of these there 1 or 2 more but you need dive and crushed to get pass that.
If you have no wall or hover in area 4, you can still get around it if you don't go DEEPER in the stage. I happen to see that too when I got to area 6 with only 3 items and had no hyper and crusher. I had to rethink (without moving forward) and picture every places as I remember in the map that are impassable to break thru the blocks. I was like "Oh crap! Area 6...I can't get thru the level without the crusher with hyper.....Oh wait! I can but it'll stop me from there and dungeons are randomize where that is open to you." There is so many possible thing you have to rethink if you played this casually before you've thought to learn to speedrun it.
Well... I for one, I prefer to start the timer on the frame you move a character and ends split on the last hit of the boss but the menuing to start up the game takes up more time when you start the timer at by pressing start. I don't think there will be a time difference but the in-game time. Just keep it the way it is for now and I also was about to request the big mod to make me as the mods (not a single mods respond about the VoDs of the WR and 2nd) because I was learning and slightly practicing this game but the first 2 VoDs are not there so... I can't learn it that way and find where I can optimize it.
I was thinking about that and I think I did mention about suggesting for BM rando that someone might end up doing that. It would be interesting if that happen.. I would love to run that for fun if others are also interested to check it out and run it.
Just wanted to say, using an autosplitter is for lazy people that doesn't want to press the input to split time manually then check your VoD run to frame count your exact PB time or if you get a WR time. Using that program for only Emulator is an unfair and has an advantage over everything since there is no use for the consoles. I'm not saying just for Batman: The video game. I'm saying for the all of the games. I much rather manually split it when I'm running a game or two by using my own finger on the Numpad or using my foot on the pedal to split the time. Instead of relying too much using a bot to split it for you (not matter how bad it can go when it's acting weird).
They are the same but different sequel. Not sure about the switch version if they ported NES in there. Since the arcade version and TG16 are in the same port. I can't say "no" but I may add those if I speak with the other mods about this to create a tab that is arcade/TG16 version in. I'm pretty sure that version has no gold dragon mode.
Oh yea. The letters is the direction he goes plus missile as he goes. and the numbers is when he goes in that direction when he shoots his eye at you. I forgot to elaborate in that kind of thing. LOL
I'm using the MSpaint as I'm re-learning this game. I may post some clips for each bosses to show the pattern to get some visual cues. Just for me to show other runners, who are deaf, hard of hearing, and for non-deaf to see how the patterns goes for example this stage 3 boss.
or here
Whichever works best that doesn't give too much buffer or replaying it.
I might make more of those in each bosses... Maybe if you guys want me to.
I may have to check it out and practice it. The first vid is after the forth boss or 5th? Let me know. I'm going to grind that game to get a good PB when I'm able to stream.
Well....getting a noose item is kind of at the late game to be able to use that glitch but not sure if it possible to do that to skip a few sewer passage to get to the last area after the last clue (5th boss?). I can't say for sure if Dragoon, Zakky or I can test that out.
That happens to me a lot, at the very last boss. Go a little lower than where you entered before. IF I remember correctly of what ShiningDragoon told me before that has happened to him as well. You enter the door to glitch it, is that your position where you entered was higher where you supposedly enter normally. Not sure if that helps but ShiningDragoon can explain better than me as we both experienced that part of the glitch where you got frozen.
I wonder if Zakky had that same problem too.
The converter cart I got was about $12- $14. It's pretty cheap how I found it, luckily. Man! I haven't ran that game for a long time. I may have to get back on this, someday soon.
I think it's fair enough to have ms in there. Since if they have the same time, That put too much work for the mod to re-time them or do a frame count to see which one of the runner has the fastest framecount (that is without the ms in) since you end split at the fading out screen ( which is when you lose control of the character or just before when it spells "Thanks") I mean that would adjust it easily to do instead of have that kind of pain to time and re-time and again, again to make sure the time matches. As someone stated back there, this game IS short with any%. If it were other category, like TG ruleset and such. That is not needed to have ms in them. UNLESS the the top 3 or 5 has their time VERY close to each other.
I wouldn't argue the mods to take off the ms and I'm fine with it for any% category as they have clearly explain the reason why, already.
I kind of mashed jump but not the FAST mashing way and works just fine to me when I mashed to clip in then I stopped mashing when it zipped upward to the boss room. :-/
OK thanks Substylee. I was just wondering and yea I saw Chelney's run because of that.
I might have to look into that since you caught my attention with that Lazarus.
Update: Strider for JP version has never been release. I had to look it up for some reason.
I just want to wonder about the timing. Let just say my time stops and shows 05: 52.00 (that the split when it fades) does that means I HAVE to do that run again to make sure to have the millisecond in. Because I'm not too sure if it's mandatory to have millisecond in it even if you ended up with .00 there for the run.
I mean I know not EVERY run can have that but it rarely can be seen like that happens
