You can try to practice segments/levels of the run you're having trouble with first until you get to a point where you're confident enough in them. With enough practice and enough failed runs, you'll reach a point where you either get confident enough in your abilities to not fail or you straight up just do them mechanically, as they'll feel as second nature to you. Skips I wouldn't initially have dared to do now I just do them like it's nothing.

Also, allow yourself to fail. If you catch yourself trying to get a perfect run at the first attempt, you'll be often disappointed/angry at yourself when you make the tiniest mistake. Just start finishing runs and your PB will slowly but surely progress to lower times, little by little, and seeing that progress will put you in a better mindset over the long run.

Once your PB gets low enough, you'll be in a position where you have mastered most of the basic mechanics and you'll be forced to advance to riskier strats, which will make it so you don't second-guess yourself all the time (ie. since there's nothing else but to do the risky strat, you'll just go for it without giving it extra thought, it'll be "do or die").

If you're still not feeling it, you could also consider taking a break from speedrunning the game (or speedrunning as a whole). I've found that often times when I pick up a speedgame after a few months of being on a break I get considerably better runs, given that I'm fresh and all the practice I previously had comes back after a few derusting sessions.

In any case, you gotta find what works for you, and more importantly, how to make the endeavor as fun as possible for yourself. It's a hobby, not a chore :)

Hey there, welcome!

For the graphics plugin, I largely use Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9, and it's been working flawlessly for any games I throw at it, with perhaps some small tweaking needed for certain games (though I don't recall having to do anything in particular to get Digimon Rumble Arena to work).

You can download it from the official site at the following link: http://www.pbernert.com/html/gpu.htm

It's literally the first link at the center of the page (though it's named as "Pete's OpenGL2 PSX GPU" for some reason, but it's really the one I'm mentioning).

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. Good luck!

PS: As a side note, if you were ever to use ePSXe 2.0.0 or higher (for casual gaming/practice purposes only), you can also use Pete's OpenGL2 GPU Core 2.0.0, which already comes bundled in with those newer ePSXe versions and is essentially the same plugin. You can also stick to the 2.9 driver and it'll work the same too.

EDIT: I also took a screenshot of my plugin's settings, just in case you run into trouble and you want to mimic these: https://i.imgur.com/jXBiqHv.png

Second time taking this test (took it a few years ago), and I remember getting this type as well, so I guess it's pretty consistent.

That's probably because you need to active "Global Hotkeys" for LiveSplit.

 1. Open LiveSplit
 2. Right-click the LiveSplit window > "Settings"
 3. Find the "Global Hotkeys" checkbox and make sure it's checked.
 4. Click "OK" at the bottom.

Now the hotkeys should work no matter what window you're on. If they're somehow still not working, you can try running LiveSplit as an administrator and see if that works.

Aside from all the reasons mentioned above, I'll also add that sometimes in-game timers are somehow tied to FPS, leading to some ridiculous comparisons between PAL/NTSC versions or even between same versions on different hardware when playing on PC, so they aren't 100% reliable.

I also partake in this joy as well. I actually think I literally wouldn't be able to live without it

Depending on the framerate the game is running on, the timing for frames will vary (30 FPS = 1/30th of a second per frame //60 FPS = 1/60th of a second per frame).

Now, if what you really mean is how people manage to pull off "frame-perfect" skips/glitches, that's a skill that is mostly developed by trial and error, getting a feel for the technique and timing, and aside from that vague description there's no "end-all-be-all" approach to it. Just gotta practice outside of runs 'til you're at least semi-consistent.

If you leave the board without any modifications whatsoever (ie. literally in a blank state, without categories or anything) it should delete itself after 14 days automatically, so there's always that option.

In the unfortunate event you'd already started setting up the board prior to noticing this, then I'd go with @hahhah42 's suggestion.
You are permitted to have exactly one account on the site. Alternate accounts will be banned.
If the person in question got banned from speedrun.com as a whole and then created a new account to continue interacting with the site, then that amounts to Ban Evasion and is not allowed.

Under that specific circumstance, I'd just report the account to the Support Hub explaining and giving evidence about this connection between the new account and the previous one and let the site mods deal with it.

Digimon Rumble Arena is certainly a short speedgame and isn't really too complex to learn, so I recommend it in case you want to give it a try!

Hello everyone! So, ever since we got help from some of the modders from the Toy Story 2 community for the framerate fix, they've actually went ahead and made a separate channel for BLoSC on their discord server, and since we've been using it to discuss strats and glitches quite often I thought it'd be a good idea to put an invitation link here in case you want to join in. :)

Here's the invitation link: https://discord.gg/2hahs9f

PS: I'm aware this is not exactly an official BLoSC discord server, but it's serviceable for our current needs I guess.

@Francyz0 According to this post apparently it was allowed, but I haven't seen any runs actually use it, so I don't know.

ArgentinaMrMonsh2 years ago

Watch my first run done on Windows 10, then my second run on Windows 7. For the first run, I start moving on Jo-Ad 1 at around 16 seconds after starting the run, while on the second run I start moving at 13 seconds.

You might be thinking "surely this would be due to hardware differences in the rigs used for both runs, right?". Well, I'll tell you that both runs were performed using the exact same PC, since I have it setup with a win7/win10 dual boot, which means the differences are indeed coming solely from the difference in OS.

I'm actually not entirely sure if the gameplay sections are actually running faster too, but at first glance that'd seem to be the same speed.

Anyways, do with this information what you will. :)
