I stumbled across this video a while back, and I was wondering if this could be a new category extension for 70 stars. :)

I plan on trying this route as well even as a beginner. If we would make the rules for this category extension, it would be the same rules as the normal 70 star category. All versions of the game should be allowed (even USA version despite Yahoo having a 1 out of 3 chance to be triggered through a triple jump) and we should obviously ban the usage of triple jumps, long jumps and using the cannons. No modified ROMs in case of emulators and video should be required to ensure that rules are respected. The minimum of Yahoo triggers should be 3, but they`re unavoidable. So technically speaking you can beat the entire game without Mario ever saying Yahoo.

yahooless basically seems to mean no longjumps. That's a pretty small restriction (as dives and jumpdives are about the same speed, and doublejump dives or triplejump dives clear a similar distance), and it probably doesn't change that much about the strats in the run. So it's kinda hard to see why it would be interesting.

I did a run of a more impactful restriction a while ago, using no longjumps or triplejumps and only 1 wallkick to get all 120 stars rather than just 70. That's doable (hardest mandatory strat probably quite a bit easier than DDD red coins with the sub), and it alters the gameplay by quite a lot (i'd estimate an optimized run to be about 2:00-2:10 hours long). The reason I restricted those 3 jumps in particular was cause a sign in the BoB room said I wouldn't stand a chance without them, and I wanted to demonstrate how that's wrong.

Yahooless is no long jumps, no triple jumps (also no access to flying with Wing Cap making stars like Mario Wings to the Sky impossible), no access to cannons, cant go to BBH, HMC, Mario Over the Rainbow nor Rainbow Ride. You can still grab all caps, but you cant collect the Vanish Star nor Metal Star. It may alter a little bit, but some stars will definitely be more challenging as a result.
