Let me give some more clarification on why i think there should be at LEAST another supermod:

`I just dislike a portion of the community, and the people I care about I'm still in contact with`
This is not ideal for someone with such power on this site. If there were multiple supermods, this would be less of an issue.

`faulty and I started Henk speedrunning, and thus I feel it's only fair that him and me call the shots on srcom`
Authority based argument, you can't really use this to your own advantage

`So I feel like the ones wanting things to happen purely out of spite are you guys.`
Nope, we only want another supermod because of your controversial ideas about the discord and the community. Agree to disagree, but having a controversial person in this community have all the control over the srcom leaderboards is a bit weird.

`And Maniax, what exactly are you going to do if I don't give up my position, which I feel like I've more than earned? Ban me from the server for something that upsets you personally but doesn't violate any rule?`
I'm having a lot of difficulties responding to this in a formal matter because this just shows how much of a piece of you've become. I'm not going to do anything dude. Why would i? I'm giving my opinion, and it's solely based on my own observations. You don't agree? fine. The way you responded though is REALLY immature, sad to see from you.

`As a side note, I still very much care for this game. Anyone who has spent more than 15 seconds talking to me at GDQ knows that`
Again, it's not about the state you're in right now but the state you were in a couple of months ago. You care about this game, good. But if you care so much, why not give the community what they want and add another supermod?

`Wanting me removed for an action that half the community really dislikes, and the other half supports sounds like you have a personal problem with me.`
Are you really sure it's a 50/50 split Shark? I've spoken to a lot of people and only a handful of people can understand you're reasoning, yet only 2 guys i've spoken to support you fully. Sure there are people that support your decisions, but the negative outweigh the positive here.

`I, too, don't like some of you personally, which I'll openly admit.`
Which is exactly why we need another supermod.

`That however won't stop me from moderating this board as good as I can, and as the super moderator for this board I'm making the call that there is not another moderator needed.`
You're doing a great job, but yet the community is complaining. This might be one of those 'whatever i do it's wrong' type of things, and it ain't going to solve itself until you add another supermod

Look, i really don't give a shit if you like me or not, because that's completely irrelevant to the point i'm making. I don't want supermod, i want another supermod who's willing to do it, and sees this whole thing from the other side of the spectrum. If that doesn't happen, drama will continue and we can both agree that we don't like drama, right?

Be the man you used to be.

Remember how I never banned a single one of you? We've had that discussion though, and you neither wanted to listen to nor really counter my arguments, and I don't expect you to do so with the current discussion, but let's at least not have two bad discussions at the same time.

That's a clear no, then. Oki diddely doki guess we gotta find another solution

I literally told you you should've banned us, and you said "That would've never sent the message I wanted to send. I'm sad you still didn't receive it."

Alright, let's do Maniax' post then.

"This is not ideal for someone with such power on this site. If there were multiple supermods, this would be less of an issue."
Only because I have a personal problem with some people doesn't mean that my abilities to moderate a board are affected at all.

"Authority based argument, you can't really use this to your own advantage"
But I can though. As much as you guys hate it, at the end of the day I'm the guy with the sword and call the shots. Now you can make jokes about this all day long, but I can't argue against non-arguments with valid points all day when barely anything of value comes back.

"Nope, we only want another supermod because of your controversial ideas about the discord and the community. Agree to disagree, but having a controversial person in this community have all the control over the srcom leaderboards is a bit weird."
So you not liking me because I'm a controversial person isn't a personal matter and thus spite? I don't think you can objectively say I'm a bad moderator on srcom.

"I'm having a lot of difficulties responding to this in a formal matter because this just shows how much of a piece of you've become. I'm not going to do anything dude. Why would i? I'm giving my opinion, and it's solely based on my own observations. You don't agree? fine. The way you responded though is REALLY immature, sad to see from you."
Maybe my point was a little over the top there. I just don't need another chance, because I didn't to anything to blow my first one as an srcom mod.

"Again, it's not about the state you're in right now but the state you were in a couple of months ago. You care about this game, good. But if you care so much, why not give the community what they want and add another supermod?"
But we live in the here and now, not a couple months ago. This again boils down to "there's objectively no need for another mod, other than your personal preference". I do what I think is best for the srcom boards, and so my decision stands.

"Are you really sure it's a 50/50 split Shark? I've spoken to a lot of people and only a handful of people can understand you're reasoning, yet only 2 guys i've spoken to support you fully. Sure there are people that support your decisions, but the negative outweigh the positive here."
Sounds like confirmation bias to me. I don't know who you've talked to, but I've gotten support left and right. I've also gotten shit left and right. And then there's a few people who I've heard nothing from, and I'm gonna call neutral on those. It might be 50/50, it might be 60/40. Who knows, it's enough people on either side nonetheless.

"Which is exactly why we need another supermod."
And again, my personal issues don't interfere with my ability to moderate.

"You're doing a great job, but yet the community is complaining. This might be one of those 'whatever i do it's wrong' type of things, and it ain't going to solve itself until you add another supermod"
Well here it is. 'Whatever I do is wrong' is objectively incorrect - as you state in the first sentence of that paragraph - and so that statement sounds like a you-problem.

"Look, i really don't give a shit if you like me or not, because that's completely irrelevant to the point i'm making. I don't want supermod, i want another supermod who's willing to do it, and sees this whole thing from the other side of the spectrum. If that doesn't happen, drama will continue and we can both agree that we don't like drama, right?"
I'm not the biggest fan of drama, but seeing as it happens time and time again I'm used to it by now. I'm also not letting you pressure me into doing anything based on nothing but spite and personal issues alone.

"Be the man you used to be."
I'm just the man I always was. I stand up for my beliefs, and have gotten a shitstorm over it on Twitter before (short summary: I called a shot on the regular Henk srcom boards. People really disliked it. I defended my point to the best of my ability, but saw myself defeated by superior arguments. I have since changed my point of view). I will let myself be convinced by arguments, but "because we wanna" isn't one.

This is one of the worst responses i've seen since leafy's response. Goodnight shark. Not wasting my time on you any longer.

I was hoping this would be able to sort itself out, but it apparently won't.

In my opinion a minimum good number of super moderators on a given board is about 3. Some boards might have less because people are not available or due to other circumstances. In general the state of moderation on a board should be close to reflecting community opinion. That isn't to say that every time someone can vote a 51% majority, the moderation should change immediately, but it is to say that if there is heavy dissent, something needs to change.

There are obviously past disputes and some grudges that are leading some members of the community to dislike the state of you being solely in charge of things. Stupid things happen between people over time, certainly, but the current state of relations between some the players and the sole super mod doesn't seem great. Subjectively, there is heavy need for an additional super moderator. I think it's worth noting that many of the people in this thread aren't even advocating for total removal, just some additional representation that they have a better time communicating with.

The community is pretty clearly stating that they would like an additional moderator to have some say over the board. It seems like rational and supported people are available to fill that position. I think that needs to happen or I don't foresee the state of affairs improving around here.

Hi kirkq,

let me preface this by saying that I - obviously - don‘t have a choice but to comply and add another super mod. It‘ll happen, in the near future.

So far so good. What I don‘t appreciate is the community apparently reporting this to a site admin, who knows nothing about this community, only ever reads this thread and then forces me to make a decision - do the thing or get removed. This discussion is not as onesided as this thread might make you think. I‘ve talked about my responses with others who simply chose not to get involved directly. Consequently, I won‘t call any names here.
I have talked to people who I think would make great super mods - and they politely declined. There is a lot of background info to be known here, which is simply not possible for you. I‘d rather have someone of my choice - I built up this game‘s speedcommunity together with faulty after all - work alongside with me on this board, but when the people I, with all my experience in doing community related things, asked to do so declined my request, I thought about my options. I could 1) have someone in the position I don‘t think is fit for it, or 2) evaluate if there really is enough work to be done to warrant another moderator. I chose the latter, and came to the conclusion that things are fine as is. That obviously doesn‘t mean that I don‘t get the community involved. One of the people in this thread heavily influenced the setup of this site, and I have tried everything possible to make this site be just as the people submitting to it want it to be.

I have to say that I am fairly disappointed that you, a site admin, come in without ever hearing out both sides, and give me the choice of doing something I have good reasons not to do, and losing my position on the site I put the hours in to make. I sincerely hope that this is the exception to the rule, and not something that happens regularly.
But, as stated above, I will comply.

Just because you don't like somebody, doesn't mean they aren't fit for a position... and I would like to give you the benefit of the doubt when you say that this discussion is not as one sided as you think/say it is 50/50 or 40/60 split. There are ALOT of people that have said they don't want to get involved, but still agree.

Me not liking somebody and me not thinking they are fit for this position are not the same thing though. If anyone of you know anything about me, it‘s that I like a certain level of professionalism in the majority - if not all - public things I do. And that is lacking in a lot of potential candidates, in my eyes anyway.

  DempseyDaPro

Just to mention. We believe Zeee/Zecora would be best person to take a position, if we could pick one person to add to be mod.

  SyncManiax

Agreed ^

And no worries about 'losing' your position, because you're not losing anything. There will just be another supermod.

MaranTheLemon has been added as a new super moderator for the Henk IL board. This thread is now useless, and has thus been locked.
