WRT the loading at the start of the first level:
Looking at my last 2 runs on the XB1 (disc version), it takes ~2 seconds for the first cutscene to load and then ~20 seconds for the level to load.
Looking at 2 previous runs done on the 360, it takes ~5 seconds for the first cutscene to load and then ~15 seconds for the level to load.
I haven't done any runs on the XB1 Definitive version but looking at welshevo's most recent, it takes ~1-2 seconds for the first cutscene to load and then takes ~24 seconds for the level to load.
Looking at just this shows that the XB1 takes longer for the first level to load and in general I haven't noticed any major differences in speed for the disc version on either console. However I do know there are some problems of slowness on the Definitive version like the black screen at the start of Dome of Light.
This is in no way extensive research on it though.
Yes, I don't see what advantages either one gives. The Definitive edition seems buggier than the original and the original seems to load better on the 360, so the 360 seems like the best version overall but I haven't extensively tested/timed.
So I'll be getting the PC version soon and will try to be back on this game with it, has anyone messed with it or looked into it at all?
Did a run on PC and recorded a bunch of stuff for later comparisons. It appears, on my current machine anyway, to take forever to load, even with an SSD. I'll be building a new PC soon so I'll see if it still takes forever there as well.
Would anyone be interested in removing load times from runs so all versions would be equalized?
I can, but at a later date. If someone is willing to do it now, be my guest.
I went over one of the Xbox runs; the mashing is good enough the in-game time doesn't display, so trying to grab that won't work.
I'm still willing to re-time the runs but there should be an auto-splitter/load-remover so there's some kind of reference point as to what sections are removed. I'd make it myself if I had the spare cash to buy the game.
I checked one IL run and found that game time most likely starts on when you gain control of the battlefield and ends on the first full black frame after the "MISSION COMPLETE" splash. I'll do more testing on that another time.
Confirmed the game time info. There's now an auto-splitter available that records in-game time for PC, though it's still a work-in-progress.
