Separate catogories for race speedruns

I'm a very new runner (console) so my opinion may be completely invalid, however:

I'm sort of on the fence about this, you're right, it's not an even playing field. But we're far from the only community this affects.

Secondly, console runners have gotten over this. We don't particularly care about the discrepancy and we go against each other with our own races, our own community golds and all that stuff.

The one thing I will say is that I'm new to this, and you can't possibly deny this, because I have experienced first-hand a superior attitude from a very small minority of PC players. Statements such as "just get a PC" have been said to me also.

Another thing that sort of annoys me is when I try really hard at a category and finally make progress, I'll get shut down by other people saying "there is no such thing as a record on a console, this isn't a record, don't make the mistake of thinking there is any record here".

But at the same time, I don't really care! I know when I'm proud of a run, I don't need anyone else to tell me that I shouldn't be proud of a run because of what platform I did it on.

Oh and btw all my current runs are awaiting verification, so I have no leg to stand on when I say that :(

That's the spirit! We all speedrun for our own personal enjoyment, so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Enjoy your journey in running V!

"just get a pc" isn't really a wrong thing to say tho to compete for overall WR. For Example, in SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, people that compete for WR actually need to pick up another console than they were playing it on, so they switched from Gamecube to Xbox with the first ones to come out. Of course, I understand that this isn't fair for anyone, because not everyone can dump their money into grabbing the fastest and best equipment for the task. However, this is a reoccuring trend amongst many speed games. They also don't have their own category, however it may be added at some point. If you can't accept all of this, sadly, there is no other option for anyone to go for console WR, if you don't want to spend too much money on a maxed out pc. But putting a whole other category or listing in for the few console runners that are currently active would not just put stress on finding more mods, but would make the whole thing of submitting a run more inefficient. The only solution I see to this problem is to either recruit mods for the different console versions, which obviously would lack players and active mods. And at the end of the day, speedrunning is about having fun trying to achieve personal goals, and if this goal includes being the best, then sadly you will have to buy a PC. There is really no going around it if you want to be competitive. I would advise you to have fun doing the thing you're doing, and if that is on console, you might as well stick to console!

Literally the only thing src would need to add is making the filter feature work both ways. Instead of selecting which platforms you want to see, let users select which platforms they don't want to see. Then it's only 2 clicks to filter out all pc runs which even carries over when changing tabs to other categories. It would have the same result that people are asking for without completely bloating the leaderboard. I've tried talking to people there in the past and I'm not very hopeful on them responding to user feedback but if you really care about this matter, then bring it up to them.
