Any% speedrun in [4:01:13]

Ah, forgot about those, sorry :)

For the sake of evidence, just looking at places you would expect someone to splice a run it looks pretty suspect. Take a look at the end of Green Sabre to the point of starting Badlands. Specifically, the point of saving the game and loading directly into the Badlands mission cutscene. Is this normal?

Yeah he's just instantly starting the mission after loading, I don't know if that's actually possible

That's fine, you gain control while the screen is still dark.

could someone give me some highlights where suspicious things can be seen? just to make it clear since i'm not really into any% running (yet) and in my view this guy is skilled and this seems like a great execution of beating this game.. he knows all the strats and even finding new(?) ones, also his driving is awesome.

i just can't believe someone puts hundreds(thousands?) of hours into the game and after that just memeing and trolling around with some cheated runs.. Or this is the case right now?

it would be good to either see some streamed runs by you, Flying or something else to make yourself not look like a weird cheater.

Tokyo, Japan

This is the best proof I have that FLYING is cheating: mouse movement from 2:56:04

That's clearly cheating. Otherwise, people say that the RNG is way better than what it can be, and that he used strats that aren't viable in RTA. But I don't know much about that.

1 frame turnaround in home invasion? you've had your chips weirdness.... RNG he gets isn't possible in ss (perfect/close to perfect rng everywhere - just not possible)

 • Is he using a trainer to spawn certain vehicles? Or what

The entire GTA speedrunning community should really adopt this sort of policy (taken from another speedrunning community), especially for times like these.

You are not able to have a record on the rankings if it involves a new strategy discovery, until there is a video and proper explanation of said strategy made public for everyone to access....While discouraged, hoarding a new strategy is allowed so that you can keep it to yourself and keep playing until you obtain an untied world record or otherwise personally significant record. However said record will not be ranked until a video and explanation are made public.

Obviously this type of policy would be more or less put into effect for the most extreme situations, i.e., this 4:01:13, especially when the runner is called out for a strat that isn't easily understood just from watching.

Honestly I just want to see Flying stream for like the duration of LS with mouse/keyboard cam, it would end this whole discussion really quick if he can prove it's not cheated.

If lelreset made a 4 hour run with several sketchy moments in the run, then yes, I (well, probably not me) would call for verification as well. If a guy comes out of nowhere with an insane time, almost perfect execution, frame perfect turns, and almost perfect RNG, we have absolutely no way to know that this person has spent 5 years grinding this game for the perfect run, all we see is a dude with a time most people think is impossible.

There is precedence for this: in GTA IV, a runner called the current WR holder out on cheating and demanded mouse/keyboard camera to prove he wasn't. Kyle did so and proved he was controlling the game with nothing but his skill and knowledge. I've also been told of a game called Perfect Dark where a player got called on cheating, and proved his innocence by having his brother record him while he played on a controller

You call the problem and the solution stupid. I agree the problem is stupid, as it should be very simple to prove you're not cheating by recording your mouse and keyboard. If you cannot prove you're not cheating, then you can't complain when people assume you are.

Flying, we can all see that you have very good skills, and the strats and all the optimizations you posted are very nice, why don't you just admit that you cheated and try and do a legit run, I'm sure that you can get a very good time and I'm also sure that you will find a lot of new strats too, so just admit it and start fresh again, without cheating.

Honestly with GTA games a rule should be attached that a run must be live streamed with a live mic feed (a lot easier to tell if someone is faking reactions when you can hear their voice) to be verified. It would take away a lot of doubt from everyone.

On a side note I wish I could drive like in this video :( Maybe one day!
a run must be live streamed with a live mic feed
I'm not sure how my breathing pattern would make it easier to verify runs, because I wouldn't say anything and still be fine with that rule.

And commentary and/or streaming is not part of a speedrun so it shouldn't be required.

What if someones PC or internet isn't good enough to stream ? Does that mean they couldn't have WR?

I have a shitty upload speed (1 mbps, which is the max here where I live), my pc is in a shared room (so no mic due to ambient noisiness) and I only have 1 monitor where I play fullscreen because I can't really stand using windowed mode, so that means I will be just streaming my runs without any form of interaction with my viewers in chat... well, even if a stream like this seems crap to me, I would still be able to stream on twitch/youtube/whatever, but a mandatory microphone is way too excessive I think

The reason I said microphone is due to keyboard noises. You can hear the key presses match with the ingame movements. Not even sure why people even question something like this. If you want to cut out potential cheaters this is how you do it.

If anyone has any better ideas feel free to give suggestions.

It's very easy to spot suspicious runs in GTA games, this run is a pretty good proof for that.

In the case of a suspicious run, the runner can be called out in each individual case and then they can replicate the strats with keyboard cam or they can explain themselves as to how they did the strat as seen in the vid.

Or you can bring irrefutable evidence too for cheating, such as the mouse movement in this run.

I don't think GTA speedrunning is at the point where you'd need to take ridiculous measures on everyone so that the occasional cheater has a harder time with their runs.

Just looked at timestamps on this video from when saves were made and where you can see them reloaded / reappear again.

Those look legit. So if this was a spliced run then he also changed his desktop time to match it during the splicing. So I would have to conclude from that that this run was done RTA.
