Monster Duping

People have already talked about this here: http://www.speedrun.com/post/53olk Read that first.

It seems quite consistent to me when you do your tests without quitting and restarting your game, but from starting a game and loading the save, it likes to softlock for me. I did not do many attempts but it seems like 1/3 to me... But maybe I am just bad at cutscene skipping and it is fine? You need to skip the cs insanely fast (use two or even more buttons). Sprint, Shoot, Enter and NumPad-Enter work.

I mentioned one instance getting stuck in the other thread. I don't know what causes it but since trying it again a few weeks ago, I never had that problem in the ~5 times I played to the end.

I tried an alternative setup where I hang up the phone during the cutscene and then skip the cutscene with the right timing. If you time that frame-perfectly, it has the same effect as it has for Mew (intro cutscene during the tutorial cutscene), but it can also softlock. Feels not worth it to me. ^^

The text box disappears during Learning to Fly, afaik (Edit:confirmed). If you dupe Learning to Fly, you also get a text box that does not disappear and you get rid off that by starting Flight School itself again after passing it or using Bike School.

it's consistent, i remember using space + LMB and it worked every single time. space + LMB does the trick, if not version must be wrong or keyboard is broken or smth?

Germany

How well does this work for other people? I plan to look into this again.

Serbia

It is consistent for me, I've never failed it.

Germany

Can I have a bunch of SCRLogs, please? The log file is cleared every time you restart the game. Maybe it is necessary but not sufficient to skip it on the second frame for you - or even in general. http://www.speedrun.com/post/8qax4

Serbia

100% consistent way of doing this, the only ''hard'' part is getting the feeling when to skip, after you do some practice you get it. I don't know if this only works for me, it should work for everyone. Tell me if you're having problems.

Serbia

There's also this video which I recorded now

England

Ok so, up until today, I was duping monster just fine, starting 2 copies of the mission, finishing both, the guy gets stuck inside himself, 10 seconds later he moves, all works fine, mission is passed twice, interdiction starts.

but today, something happened with the monster duping which is making it so that the mission passes early, and it doesn't give me interdiction, it gives me hijack, which when trying to start crashes the game, I have no clue what has caused it to not work like it did, I'm doing everything the same as I was, it isn't the on mission changer either because that was working fine when I was practicing before, does anyone at all know what has caused monster not to pass correctly, and how to actually fix it? I've tried everything I can, I'm using v1.0 of the game.

Video:

Edit: after about 6 reinstalls and trying it seemed to dupe correctly for some reason

I kept having the problem as well (http://www.speedrun.com/post/xesm5) and then it seems that it had just solved itself when I revisited the dupe months later.

No sound? D: Please add the rest of the footage showing the failed dupe. The problem might be caused then. Do you still have the save game? Upload, please.

England

There is sound, its just super quiet, and no I don't, I only rememebred to press record when I got to the end of the mission, but as of now every time I've done the dupe it's worked just fine for some reason

The post I linked contradicts your guess, coollertmb.

Since it barely ever happens, I do not think that I am going to look into it. It would have been nice if we had documentation of it, though.

It also happened to Crook: http://www.speedrun.com/gtasa/thread/p73r6

I'll post a lenghty run-down of what happens in intended Monster duping, tomorrow.

Germany

Wow, this turned out to be a bit more complicated than expected. ^^ I am delaying this.

[anti's posts restoration project] This setup works really well for me and will probably be my go-to in runs. Spamming skip cutscene with just the mouse and entering the marker from this angle works 70% of the time, and if it doesn't work, 90% of the time it will let me try again. http://i.imgur.com/0a06Hzn.png I tried reset's suggestion with both mouse and space, but never worked once. Oh well.

Serbia

Maybe it depends on the hardvare like pausebuffering to skip dialogue. I use my strat that I posted above and I have 100% success with it, I haven't tried other strats though.

For me the way that Andra explained works perfectly :D

Lombardy, Italy

I just mash shift+enter+R+spacebar (so most of the skip cutscene buttons for me) during the fadeout and I even tried that on my sister's PC (which is really old with really slow hardware) and it still worked fine on first try, so it's definitely not a hardware "issue".
