Well, not quite duping yet, but possibly getting closer.

Firstly, I have no idea if my movements or timing have any effect on the final outcome because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and I have no idea why. If I didn't specifically mention something below, that means I have no idea if it's necessary or not. I got it to work for the first three hitman missions (crosshair missions), but it only led to infinite loading, never crashing though. Give it a try, if you'd like, try other missions too and help find duping in IV, because you know you love IV. OpieOP

This is what I do in the video:

  1. Get into a vehicle which has a police computer.
  2. Navigate to one of Jacob's activities (just don't pick "Job").
  3. Press "E" (hotkey for police computer) and "Enter" (selection hotkey) at the same time. (Jacob should begin to be called for only milliseconds and then the call is cancelled. I feel if done """correctly""", you shouldn't see the "Jacob likes you more" indicator appear along with his blip on the mini map)
  4. Quickly start up a vigilante mission (the first selection on the police computer)
  5. Call Little Jacob. (You'll either hear the dialogue or beeps and I have no idea why you hear one or the other)
  6. Navigate to Little Jacob on the phone and select "Job". (You'll hear beeps)
  7. Position the driver's seat over the mission marker and wait until you run out of time on the vigilante mission.
  8. If it "works", you'll see that the Jacob's drug mission began during the fade out for the hitman mission.

I've tried a handful of missions multiple times and have yet to get the drug mission to begin during the fade-out. Nearly every time I try a hitman mission, it works.

I've noticed that the hitman mission marker causes Niko to come to a dead stop while on foot, as well as in a vehicle. This happens with other mission markers as well, but only when in a vehicle. While on foot, from what I can remember about all of the other missions, you can run through the marker and keep on running during the fade-out. So, there's a clear difference with this marker. I'll have to figure out which other markers do this as well. If you know of any, let me know.

MAJOR FIND. more to come.

United States

Set up a date with Michelle, start a vigilante mission, sit where the date marker will be, press E to access the police computer when the cutscene begins, start a vigilante mission, shoot your gun, vigilante mission complete.

If you instead do this -> Set up a date with Michelle, start a vigilante mission, sit where the date marker will be, press E to access the police computer when the cutscene begins, start a vigilante mission, either let the vigilante mission timer run out OR pass it WITHOUT firing a weapon ----->

-> at this point you'd still have the date active and also be able to start any other missions. I haven't had any success instantly completing regular mission in the same way the vigilante mission completed.

In the same way you can bring up the police computer during that cutscene, you can also bring up your phone.

This find will hopefully lead to being able to take calls during missions OR an easy way to instantly complete missions (hopefully at least the longest of missions). Having two regular missions running at the same time still crashes the game. I started Roman's taxi job during a Faustin mission and it crashed the game. Testing with the trainer has shown that a strangers and freaks mission (blue person icons on the map) can be running during a story mission.

Need to test missions started through the phone (start a mission like Hostile Negotiation during that date cutscene).

This video shows some initial testing.

This looks like a huge find, not only for Any% and Classic% (phonecalls during missions, maybe more), but also for 100% (strangers and freaks, dates with friends, most wanted during missions). Only downside is needing a police vehicle and having to wait for the Vigilante mission to fail.

Definitely has huge potential. I'll try to mess around with it a bit.

United States

This video shows that you can take/make calls while a mission is active. The only downside is it looks like you'd only be able to take calls during the first mission you activate after setting this up and then would have to start over for the next missions. You want to change the key you use to select in the phone to something which won't skip date cutscenes. Sometimes it seems like the phone won't come up until the police computer has been brought up. This video also shows one of possibly many results from getting a mission triggering phonecall while another mission is already running. I thought it would crash when the call ended, but it didn't. You can see what happens when Hostile Negotiation completes.

United States

Shows what happens when you perform the same glitch at the end of the date and select "Try your luck". I'm not in control after he jumps out of the car, but I regain control after he teleports.

United States

Here's the glitch crashing Late Checkout. If you fail the date just after getting out of this mission's opening cutscene, you'll get the same result that you see in one of the other videos when I do the same thing after starting up a Faustin mission.

I tested what would happen if I failed this random encounter mission just after starting it. The result was the random encounter mission seemed to just end. I also tested what would happen if I shot into the air once I got to the alley way where the enemies are. The result was exactly what happens in the video below, except the game crashed when the fade-out occurs. Lastly, I tested what would happen if I shot an enemy, and this video shows it.

United States

When the blips were still labeled "Destination", the date fail caused the mission to fail. When the blips' title changed to "Enemy", aka the enemies spawn in after hitting a trigger, the date fail caused the mission to complete.

Fail:

Complete:

Vigilante blips are immediately titled "Enemy". I'm really starting to think this glitch can only work if the blips show this title. I've also noticed the only missions this glitch has ever been proven to work on are the ones which don't increment the "Missions attempted/Missions passed" stat by 1.

Tried this again, this time on the roof with Kate, still crashed:

Date fail leads to "Street Sweeper" completing (a storyline mission):

An example of the enemies spawning in:

I'm starting to think that this glitch will only work on missions which end with a group of people or objects needing killed, with no other triggers, objectives, or stages after/as you destroy this final group. A mission like "Luck of the Irish", which you can see below, has stages during the final showdown. I'm guessing it failed because after the enemies were wiped out, Packie's attacker (the guy who spawns and fights Packie) spawned in and killed him.

United States

Completions & fails:

(Puerto Rican Connection doesn't actually fail due to the date fail. I fail in the video because the train gets too far away. If you continue following the train, the mission will pass when it pulls up to station where the guys would normally get off.)

Picking up a prostitute while on a date:

United States

Edit: This isn't "never-fail" because I've had it fail. It might have to do with the type of vehicle you're in and/or how long it takes you to get from the police vehicle to another vehicle and/or the type of vigilante mission you choose and/or the length of the vigilante timer. I've noticed sometimes the red text doesn't appear at the bottom of the screen when the countdown ends. Maybe you can only bring up the phone if this text appears. IDK, I'll have to test more.

The never-fail method to bring out the phone immediately after triggering the date is as follows (combined with the faster setup):

Start a vigilante mission -> get out of the police vehicle -> get into a non police vehicle -> sit where the date marker will be -> as you wait for the countdown to finish, make sure your last input was NOT mouse related (mouse movement, clicking, etc.) -> bring out the phone as soon as the date triggers (I use the UP arrow key to bring up the phone and forward slash ( / ) to select options on the phone -> select Little Jacob's "Job" -> hang up as soon as dialogue begins with him, before your date enters the vehicle (if you need to, you can pull the vehicle forward or back as she walks to the vehicle to make her take longer) -> when the job triggers, hit Enter to cancel the date cutscene -> cancel the job through the phone

No Way On The Subway:

Too early: Too early: Too early: The moment you can pass:

United States

We need to figure out how to determine if Kate will be wanting picked up at work or at her home before making the call. I've called her at the same time, same day multiple times and sometimes she's at work, sometimes she's not. For those of you who don't know, if she's at work, she isn't unavailable, she just will be needing picked up there.

The 'No Way on the Subway" date pass would definitely be worth it if you knew she would be wanting picked up at home, as it's just around the corner from the police station and you could perform the faster date fail setup (shown in a video, two posts above this one) and easily save 15-25 seconds as long as you can quickly get a cab.

Maybe the trainer was causing inconsistencies with where she wanted picked up and when she's available, as I was using it to change the time.

United States

I'm pretty sure this is how it works and have yet to see an outcome which goes against that which is below:

-Kate seems to always answer the phone and proceed to accept your request to get together when you call her for the first time -After the first time, she seems to follow her sleep schedule which is 00:00-08:00 AM (unavailable between these times) -If there's a mission marker at the McReary household, Kate will always be waiting at work -If there's no mission marker at their household, she will want picked up there

United States

Going for the date fail, mission passed glitch during No Way on the Subway IS NOT worth it. In my latest run, I split at the end of Babysitting, ran for a few seconds and found a cab, went to Ray and waited 15 seconds for a text, then started NWotS. The split ended up being 3:04.

In this video, you'll see the glitch done as if it's during a run. Execution was nearly perfect, aside from the cab driver getting out and wasting ~5 seconds. The end split should have been at 2:51 (2:46 w/o the cab driver) and this was without a ~15 second wait for a call or text. Even if Kate was waiting at her house, I still would have had to wait on the marker and/or gotten out of the police car and into a car to do the faster setup, which 'might' have saved 1-2 seconds at most.

Not worth going for.

Date Fail usefulness and stages of testing:

It's Your Call (up to) Roman's Sorrow (including Brucie) - date fail not useful Escuela of the Asleep - game crashes no matter how far along you are while trailing, both inside and outside of your vehicle (only tested on 1.4) Street Sweeper - works, but not useful Luck of the Irish - fails the mission, not useful anyway Blow Your Cover - crashes the game at multiple spots Out of the Closet - not useful Puerto Rican Connection- will work when the train spawns, but you need to follow the train to its final stop for mission pass (not useful) Deconstruction for Beginners - kills Playboy (not useful anyway) Photo Shoot - not useful, mission is very short The Snow Storm - doesn't speed up the mission, not useful Call and Collect - does nothing if you date fail before reaching the marker, clearly not useful as the rest of the mission is too short Final Interview pt. 1 - not useful Have a Heart - not useful Wrong is Right - doesn't fail or pass the mission, not useful Portrait of a Killer - not worth it, not useful Dust Off - destroys the heli, not useful Interview - not useful Harboring a Grudge - tested with the trainer w/ Kate, left the mission in a state which couldn't be completed, not worth going for Waste Not Want Knots - not useful, makes the guys with you just wander around Three Leaf Clover - tested at both the moment the shootout begins and after the cutscene before going into the subway (crashed and killed Derrick), could also test once down in the subway, but it's likely not going to work ¤Paper Trail - works, but no known way to get the call after starting a date (could test with the mutliple date strat) Smackdown - not useful, can't use the police computer while on a date and on the mission (mission is too fast anyway) Holland Nights - short mission, wouldn't be useful Lure - short mission, wouldn't be useful Hostile Negotiation - fails mission or crashes game, I forget, but I've tested this A Long Way to Fall - Could test again, but I'm pretty sure it failed the mission (likely wouldn't be faster anyway) ¤Actions Speak Louder Than Words - always crashed or failed the mission, did date fail earlier on in the trailing process, could try again at a later point while still trailing ¤I Need Your Clothes, Boots, Motorcycle - pretty sure it failed the mission, will test again (likely not useful) Babysitting - doesn't work before reaching the boat, fails the mission once the first enemy spawns, not worth going for at any other point ¤Tunnel of Death - will test again with a new strat (but it will probably fail the mission like the other tests) Blood Brothers - not useful Taking in the Trash - fails the mission Undertaker - not useful Meltdown - fails the mission (tested only on 1.4) Museum Piece - not useful No Way...Subway - works, but isn't worth going for as it's nearly identical in time to the normal way (and you'd be dealing with major RNG just to maybe save a few seconds) Weekend At Florian's - fails or crashes the mission, wouldn't be faster anyway I'll Take Her... - not useful ...I'll Take Her - not useful Late Checkout - crashed the game every time (and it's a pretty fast mission so would be useful anyway) Truck Hustle - Destroys the H(eroin) Pegorino's Pride - crashes the game at multiple points during the mission, not worth testing any further Hating the Haters - not useful Payback - mission is too short for it to be useful Catch the Wave - failed the mission once you shoot at the warehouse after the guys start shooting Flatline - works, but the mission is too short for it to be useful Trespass - removes Chubby Charlie, but still requires that you reach the helicopter trigger and destroy the helicopter (so it's useless on this mission) To Live and Die in Alderney - crashes the game, even at the point where you you get out of the cars, so not useful as you need to shoot the cops to continue ¤Entourage - will test again Union Drive - too short of a mission to be useful Dining Out - Probably works after triggering the enemies, but at that point it's not worth it as you can be done in under 30 seconds. Doesn't do anything if done as soon as you exit the cutscene. Liquidize the Assets - mission is too short to be useful Pest Control - too short to be useful She's A Keeper - too short to be useful ¤Buoys Ahoy Diamonds are...Friend - failed the mission if done before the shootout, if done at the shootout, it will crash the game once you reach the point where the three cars pull up A Dish Served Cold - likely not possible to do Mr. & Mrs. Bellic - not useful ¤Out of Commission- tested in multiple places using the trainer, never did anything of use, will try again

If dupes work with the other ending it could be maybe faster.

I remember many years ago viewing the beginning of a highlighted run which started just as the previous attempt was coming to a semi-disastrous close. Sometimes a VOD like this was accompanied by a remark signaling frustration or lost hope which, I suppose, the runner felt was a bit of amusing juxta
