Beating the current segmented run

Segments 1 - 13 add up to equal 1:02:26 (10 seconds of each segment video on SDA are dedicated to showing SDA info. I didn't include this time)

Segment 19 is Search and Delete which is 2:43. 2:25 of segment 20 is Easy as Can Be. Added to the time above, this equals 1:07:34.

At the beginning of each segment, the latest auto-save file is loaded which takes about 9 seconds (9 x 15 = 2:15). At the end of each segment, the stats menu is shown for about 5 seconds (5 x 14 = 1:10). 2:15 + 1:10 = 3:25, 1:07:34 - 3:25 = 1:04:09.

So, the Any% time of the segmented run's "Roman's Sorrow + Brucie" takes about 1:04:09. My Classic% time PB is 1:06:01. Not sure if they include the 5 seconds per segment taken to show the stats menu. I'm pretty sure the 9 seconds taken to load the auto-save file at the beginning of each segment are included in the final time. If they do, the time ends up being about 1:06:24.

I don't think beating the segmented run's time will be that difficult if I do an Any%, especially if my single segment run is timed in the same manner (see below).

Edit: I see a segmented run is manually timed. They don't count the load times. Does this mean they don't count the load times of loading a save AND the load times of missions (anywhere from a couples seconds of a cutscene all the way up to the full cutscene + the loading... afterwards)?

Well Brucie already is beaten by 10 minutes. My target goal is 54 minutes or maybe 55. Gold splits are 48 something. So the optimization has to come late game. It will happen. But first I need to get a run where up to three leaf glover it is perfectly routed and executed.

BTW, the in-game timer is at 4:39:xx when the segmented run finishes (when he checks, it's at 4:40:02 because of the wait to regain control). When I finished my 5:11:05, the in-game was at 5:04:xx. I added up the segment times as if this was timed in real time, subtracting 10 seconds from each segment because of the SDA info shown during each segment. Added up to 5:07:57.

Here are "my" splits from the other day. The run began to die at Union Drive, then I failed multiple missions over and over again as I pretty much gave up. So, what I'm saying is these aren't "real" splits. From Union Drive on, it's built from the segment times of my 4:50:xx run. Major time loss at Undertaker, Union Drive, and pre That Special Someone (phonecalls) due to poor execution in the 4:50:xx run (which the final splits are built from). This uses a pretty great route and extensive planning. It will see minor improvements over time, but there really isn't room for major changes which would ever make sub 4:10 realistically achievable without game/mission breaking bug/glitch abuse. What I'm saying is, a sub 4:20 is an incredibly good time. I know I can get sub 4:30. At that time, it will be much easier to understand the route and plan with a video rather than through a document.

The sum of my best splits is 4:16:26. Mostly accurate, but inaccuracies definitely don't put it over 4:20, actually most push it closer to sub 4:10 due to many of these best segments being blank before this recent attempt.

Just got a 4:33:2x. My sum of best is 4:12:20 (now it's 99% accurate). I still stand by my belief that sub 4:10 will never happen without currently unknown glitch/bug abuse. 6-8 minutes lost due to mistakes (not considering the wedding calls issue). Sub 4:20 will happen when the wedding calls are figured out.

I thought I had figured out the wedding calls as I did many tests a few weeks ago which brought me to the conclusion that you first need to receive the call from UL Paper which begins with something like "So, I hear you've found Bernie". This part is true, you do need this call before any of the wedding calls can come in. My testing began just after completing "Weekend At Florian's" and showed that after getting this call, you need to wait 7 in-game hours to get the first wedding call. Then, you need to wait another 7 for the next, and so on. If I waited 14, the first call would come in, but I would still need to wait another 7 for the next. I did this over and over again and the results were consistent. Kate's wedding call is unique though. In order to get the final call (Kate's), you need to have received the three, completed Undertaker, completed Payback, completed Paper Trail, and at least one other mission (which at this time I haven't determined). I'm going to do some more testing for this. The confusing part is that the way this works just after getting the call from UL Paper, isn't the way it works later on in the game, or so it seems. Many in game days had passed after getting the needed call from UL Paper, but I wasn't receiving the first wedding call, even when no other calls were in the queue. I need to finalize the testing for Kate's call and then figure out why the required wait time seems to change after a certain point in the game.

Every other call which has ever caused issues is now figured out. A few more entries need to be made to the other thread.

First of all, congrats on the 4:33. Gonna watch it later.

Yeah good old wedding phone calls. I still don't understand them and praying that they come in isn't really nice and if you do get fucked and they glitch out, it's such a late game run killer and it's super frustating.

There are some other phone calls that are prone to glitching out and refusing to come in. Packie for Undertaker is the best example.

I'll never understand it because there is no pattern and without understanding the way these phone calls are coded, there isn't much you can do about them.

Currently I'm out of the race. My current time has 15 minutes easy time save from just playing better and a further 20 minutes with perfect phone calls. So i see myself sub 4:30 at best. I doubt i can do any better without loosing my sanity.

I remember many years ago viewing the beginning of a highlighted run which started just as the previous attempt was coming to a semi-disastrous close. Sometimes a VOD like this was accompanied by a remark signaling frustration or lost hope which, I suppose, the runner felt was a bit of amusing juxta
