Second van, 5x in a row with a strategy which has you getting the taxi to spawn as you see in the video, taking it to the police car, triggering the first van, and driving as fast as possible to the optimal second van, then slowing down so you'll stop in front of it. It seems like if you get to the second van in 19-21 seconds after regaining control from the first's cutscene, you'll always get the correct second van. It's possible this strategy will eventually fail, but 5x in a row, at multiple in game clock times, seems pretty consistent to me. For the final test, I waited a bit before pulling away from the first van and failed to get second van. It must have to do with the timing. I don't know what else to think at this point.

Hold E while in a police vehicle, that has a police computer, to shoot while stationary in the vehicle.

Don't pick up the knife from Dardan, if you kill him from afar. This will give you just enough time to reach the end marker before Niko begins the dialogue that starts off with "A man in Europe...". If you hit the marker in the middle of dialogue, you'll have a lengthy loading screen.

Where should you get the knife? From Packie's attacker during "Luck Of The Irish". After jumping from the fire escape, run to where he died and you'll find a knife. This isn't wasting any time because you're going to want to wait for a call or text before starting the next mission.

I tested every vehicle on an object mod which was a very long straightaway made out of skate ramps placed parallel to each other. I had the km/h displayed with the trainer and would speed up the vehicle with the trainer, which would put the vehicle at a speed definitely over its max, and then I'd stop the boosting while continuing to hold W. Eventually, the vehicle would drop to it's max after deaccelerating, which was evident by the km/h basically stuck at one speed (aside from the decimal constantly increasing and decreasing by a tiny bit).

Reminder that the type of surface that you're testing on will affect every vehicle's top speed in a uniform manner. (aka) If I tested on concrete/asphalt instead of the smooth wood, the top speeds would all be less, but I guarantee the positions would be the same.

Useful rocket strats: (4 rockets left at the end of Babysitting, always can buy more if absolutely necessary) Late Checkout- Fire a rocket at the table after entering the living area/dining area Payback- Fire a rocket at the group of guys inside of the car showroom Flatline- Fire a rocket down the hall or inside the neighboring room to kill the guy in the other room Trespass- Fire a rocket at the helicopter (or throw a grenade at the heli to save a rocket) Dining Out- Fire a rocket over the first few stairs and railing to knock over/kill multiple annoying enemies (more of a safety strat, avoid to save a rocket) A Dish Served Cold- Fire two rockets at Dimitri (or one rocket and then shoot him if he's visible or one rocket and one grenade, or two grenades and no rockets if you want to save two for Out of Commission) Out of Commission- Fire a rocket at a car near the entrance and make a dash for the building. If you have another rocket, fire it at the end of the room and make and sprint to the cutscene trigger.

Because that straightaway mod kept flipping me the moment I would lean back. I have to find another one which is like the one I used, but doesn't cause me to launch in the air.

Update: I updated the chart. Basically, if you want to accelerate as fast as possible, you've got to lean back, lean forward, and repeat. This was already known, I just couldn't get the top speeds on that mod, so I did point to point time trials at the airport. To best maintain your speed, hold lean forward, but make sure you let off of it when turning.

I assume this is already known, but I'll post it anyway since I haven't seen this info on any game wikis:

It's possible to swap first date and bleed out without roman ending up in the hospital. Just block the bleed out call with a wanted level or a 911 call on the way to first date. Waiting for roman's bleed out call after first date will probably make it slower than the current route though.

I also tried this once in clean getaway, block vlad's call and go straight to the garage, but I still had to wash or paint the car to open the garage. I can't think of any other missions where your objective is changed by a phonecall halfway through, so first date/bleed out might be the only mission where it's possible.

United States

I've done a lot of testing with the date/Bleed Out combination and always came to the conclusion that you're going to lose time trying any other possibility than what we've been doing. As for what blocking calls during missions can do, and what I'm referring to is the act of completely skipping them, not just the type of end of mission call blocking we do, I've found that it either leads to a softlock or nothing more than just not having to hear the call. One example of this is blocking the call to Roman after dropping the girls off during Three's a Crowd. I was unable to purchase clothing (or maybe the store's doors were shut and locked, I forget). Easy enough to test as there aren't a whole lot of auto calls during missions.

Ilias talked about this before, though I don't think anyone ever timed it and/or mentioned times: If you take the heli from Paper Trail to Three Leaf Clover, you'll end up saving ~20 seconds by the time you reach the bank.

From Paper Trail's end marker to Three Leaf Clover's marker (no extra waiting): (w/ cab) : 34 seconds (w/ heli) : 56 seconds

From Three Leaf Clover's marker to the bank marker: (w/ an empty police patrol car waiting at the curb, an excellent drive as well): 1:41 (w/ heli) : 1:02

Reminder to delete all text messages because in my latest PB, I received Roman's text, following Hostile Negotiation, two times because I never looked at it and the next time I waited for a text, it came in again.

United States

Timing: Virtually the same as the SUV strat (not the grenade one, that's slower), ~52 seconds from SUV's engine turns on to the final kill Difficulty: Easier than the SUV strat, plus you'll save health and armor

There are two animations Niko can do from a stand still. One is very he puishes slowly forward and acclerates slowy which is a bad animation as it takes longer than the other one where Niko just starts running.

The slow animation happens if you press shift before W.

The faster animation happens if you press W before shift.

Did anyone time classic strats for waste not want knots with the heli from paper trail? Since it has a fairly long drive as well

paper trail -> heli wnwk -> heli 3LC

United States

From Paper Trail's end marker to WNWK's starting marker (w/ heli): 0:56 (w/ cab): 0:34

(w/o heli) (WNWK marker - entered the warehouse): 1:29:07 - 1:30:41 = 1:34 (exited warehouse - end marker): 1:31:13 - 1:32:18 = 1:05 Total: 2:39

(w/ heli) ¤(WNWK marker - entered the warehouse): 1:53:53 - 1:55:12 = 1:19 ¤(exited warehouse - end marker): 1:55:52 - 1:57:27 = 1:35 Total: 2:54

From WNWK's end marker to TLC's marker ¤(w/ heli): 0:49 (w/ cab): 0:34

Grand total: (w/o heli): 5:38 (w/ heli): 5:41

The timings with an ¤ come from my Classic% run. I adjusted them to reflect nearly perfect movement from Packie (getting him out of the boat, up into the heli, as well as from the top of the dock down to the end of mission marker). The results show that this is slower than current strats.

Germany

Which is why you use the helicopter only for TLC, which is handy because you have to take one message and one Ray call there most of the time anyway. It's timing is very similar as well. You invest about 15-20 seconds to get the helicopter to the marker and waiting for the Ray call imo is a must.

I compared the end of my best RS to the end of what was one of Ilias' better or best RS. This compares all of the non mission parts (and a few during missions like driving to RR and the drive to the club at the start of M&tM) between the video warp after Rigged to Blow and finishing the final mission before Roman's Sorrow.

Kyle's route/strats: 39:01 - 39:23 = :22 (To Dimitri (M&tM marker) using the cop car outside of the apartment, called Roman (x2)) 39:37 - 39:51 = :14 (Cop car to club marker) 39:53 - 39:57 = :04 (Cop car into trigger inside the club) 40:13 - 41:14 = 1:01 (From M&tM finish, cop car to Brucie, wait for Roman's call, into Brucie's marker) 41:20 - 42:04 = :44 (Start of 1st Brucie mission to Lyle marker (average cab)) 42:18 - 42:31 = :13 (From S&D finish, cab to B, into 2nd Brucie mission marker) 43:49 - 44:24 = :35 (End of 2nd Brucie mission up to the point of triggering Jacob for RR) Total: 3:13 (22 seconds lost waiting for Roman's call, would have been 2:51)

Ilias' route/strats: 40:37 - 41:22 = :45 (Took cop car from apartment, drove to Brucie, called LJ (x1) and Roman (x2)) 41:26 - 42:17 = :51 (Start of 1st Brucie mission to Lyle marker (no cab)) 42:32 - 42:58 = :26 (From S&D finish to Dimitri's marker using Sentinel at Lyle's apartment) 43:11 - 43:27 = :16 (Sentinel to club marker) 43:29 - 43:34 = :05 (Sentinel backed into the trigger inside of the club) 43:51 - 44:38 = :47 (From M&tM finish, drive Sentinel to Jacob's RR trigger) 46:24 - 46:39 = :15 (RR complete to the start of Brucie's second mission) Total: 3:25 (never waited for Roman's call)

Saves ~10 seconds (someone mentioned this in Nozlar's chat today, so thank you to whoever that was)

You can fully heal at the diner without triggering French Tom when he's already there waiting for you.

The fastest zooming method is using PgUp (Page Up), which is the key bind by default. This can be used to zoom into the map for waypoint placement, webpage scrolling, and scope magnification.

If upon fade in after taxi warping, a phone call is coming in, wait until you've gotten out of the cab before answering the call or it will almost always automatically hang up when Niko's exit animation begins and you'll be given no credit for the call. Hail the cab before answering or it might get away.

In Deconstruction For Beginners, if you press clip capture when entering the SUV, Playboy won't say his line about the headset which will save a second or two.

There's an auto call to Francis after getting the Lawyer's call which must be hung up with RMB or Backspace. Never block this call or enter a marker before properly hanging it up, or you'll have to wait for it later on. I see many people make this mistake.

I remember many years ago viewing the beginning of a highlighted run which started just as the previous attempt was coming to a semi-disastrous close. Sometimes a VOD like this was accompanied by a remark signaling frustration or lost hope which, I suppose, the runner felt was a bit of amusing juxta
