VBA plays at a 59.73hz refresh rate and is not faster than the gameboy in it's current build. I think this rule should be re-evaluated given that the emulator technology has gotten much better. It is impossible to tell emu vs console gameplay anymore.

GBA emus back 2-3-ish years ago were, indeed, shitty and inaccurate but this isn't the case anymore.
VBA, VBA-M, and mGBA are 3 examples of emulators which have progressed in the last few years into very accurate alternatives to the physical console.

So I'm requesting that this be looked into and for the rule against emulator runs to be reconsidered.

I'm not sure what rule you'd want changed as neither of the 2 current emulator rules is set because we deem the gameplay itself inaccurate

"As of June 2017 emulator is no longer allowed for World Record submissions only."
This rule is set, because we don't want the WR of a category to be set on an unofficial release of the game.

"Emulator runs that lack a Gameboy splash screen on Hard Resets will be adjusted with 6 seconds per Hard Reset."
This rule only comes into play if your emulator of choice doesn't show the gameboy splash screen on a hard reset, in which case it doesn't matter how accurate the rest of the gameplay is, because you're missing 6s of splash screen that needs to be added.

Why don't do something similar like in GBA metroid community? They use bizhawk + mGBA core for his emulator submissions because there is almost no difference between bizhawk and GBP / GBI but under certain restrictions and obviously show splash screen on Hard Resets.

Like I said, the rule only applies if your emulator setup of choice doesn't show the splash screen. If you have a super accurate emulator setup the rule doesn't exist for you. I literally do not understand what would need changing

First of all: agreed with Cyd obviously.
Second of all and more important: Are you in the community? No. Have you done runs of the game? Probably not. If you're not part of the community, let alone did runs of the game what makes you think you can just barge in an debate the rules WE as a COMMUNITY set up?
If you wanna argue about this join the community, do some work in it, do some runs establish yourself and then and ONLY then you earned the right to even start this discussion.

And as Cyd said the rules are super linient, theres really nothing to argue about this.

Case closed

The only problem here is that I just don't understand which rule any of this information even applies to. It's irrelevant to the emulator rules in place. Chill.

"Timing begins at the conclusion of naming your last character, and ends on the last textbox before boarding the Lemurian Ship (Mia: Jenna is waiting for us)

You must end the game with all 28 Elemental Djinn in your party

Runs without intro start from a savefile after you leave Vale with 'speedrun' stats (no exp, no additional coins, default inventory). 39 minutes are added to this time, as that is slightly longer than a good run takes to leave Vale.

As of June 2017 emulator is no longer allowed for World Record submissions only.

Emulator runs that lack a Gameboy splash screen on Hard Resets will be adjusted with 6 seconds per Hard Reset."

Which rule would be ignored if the game has the splash screen? Are you saying that if my emu displays the splash screen I'd be able to submit a record breaking time? I'm not understanding what you're talking about.

"as of June 2+ years ago" when emulators for GBA were inferior and the software sucked... but this isn't the case today. As vlackSR said, the Bizhawk emu is incredibly accurate. Lets say I have a recording on my computer that's 3:18 for any%, would this be rejected or what?

- "Which rule would be ignored if the game has the splash screen?"
The one that specifically mentions the splash screen! The one I specifically posted in my first message when I said that.

- "Are you saying that if my emu displays the splash screen I'd be able to submit a record breaking time?"
No! It's on emulator, following the splash screen rule doesn't mean you get to break the 'no WR on emulator' rule.

Doesn't matter. It can be 100% accurate, but it's still a third party emulator. As I said in my first post, we want the WR to be on an official release of the game aka released by Nintendo aka not on a third party emulator.

Yes! Exactly that!
